NWR: Need to-do recs

My FI is taking me to Chicago for Valentine's Day. I've never been there before. *GASP* I know, I live a sheltered life in Michigan. Anyhow, we are taking the train from Ann Arbor and staying at the Intercontinental Hotel. Any suggestions for dinner, things to do, things to see? Thanks in advance!

If you want to do some touristy things, there's always shopping on Michigan Avenue. There's also shopping on State Street, that's where the flagship Marshall Field's is located. That's cool to see.

There's ice skating in Millenium Park and Wrigley Field...to get to Wrigley though you would need to take the El...our El system is really easy. If I can take it, anyone can! =)

The Sears Tower (now Willis Tower) has a new sky deck that you can go see. I'm not sure if you need "reservations" for that though...I hear it's def worth checking out.

If you're looking for a restaurant that the PP didn't mention (good rec's tho!!) check out metromix.com. You can choose Chicago and it has a TON of stuff to do and places to eat and drink. One thing I will suggest is to make reservations! Also, ask your hotel if they have any deals with the surrounding eating establishments. I hear that some restaurants move guests at participating hotels to the front of the waiting line if they don't accept reservations.

The museums are really cool too, if that's your thing. I love the art museum!
When you're born in Chicago you're blessed and you're healed the first time you walk into Wrigley Field. My Bio

    HI!

I am a Michigan Transplant that lives in Chicago now!  If either of you went to MSU or UofM, it would be fun to head up to the northside of the city and watch a spartan or UofM basketball game if there is one on.... you will surely run into someone you went to college with (I still run into old Spartan Friends,  7 years after I graduated) !    I'm not too sure if many people will be out for the UofM b-ball games, since they arent that great (haha)   but some of the big Spartan bars are OMalleys on Lincoln,  John Barleycorn on Lincoln, HIggins tavern on Racine and Grand River on Lincoln south of Southport.  The big UofM bar is Duffys on Diversey, but you wouldnt catch me dead there! :)

Other than that, I love Shedds- and getting good Chicago Pizza is a must too

    Have fun!!

Second City for an improv show is a must for a first time Chicago visit! Depending on when you get here, The Art Institute is free Thursday night and open later to serve cocktails-plus the new modern wing is really cool if you are into that stuff.

Great ideas pp. Also, if you're hocky fans, check out a Blackhawks game...they are home that weekend. Or the standbys - the planetarium, Shedd aquarium, Museum of Science and Industry, the Field Museum. I've lived here my whole life and still love a trip to all three. And if you're up near Millenium Park, check out Park Grille for food.
