Hello,

My fiance and I live here in Chicago suburbs, but we are from Texas. We are having the wedding here as sort of a "destination" wedding. I would like to do favors that are like souvenirs, but I am on a budget. I feel like keychains and magnets are not going to be a hit so I was thinking maybe shot glasses? Do any native Chicago girls have tips on what would be a good souvenir? Thanks!

    How about luggage tags?  You can probably make them or order from oriental trading company???   Although I really like your idea about shot glasses....

    Would your grandmother like a shot glass?  Or your 12 year old cousin?  Don't do shot glasses.

    Luggage tags are a much better idea, but IMO edible favors are the way to go!

    Garrett's popcorn!!! Local to Chicago plus you can buy the huge bags and repackage them yourself. Loveisbald is doing this I think!
    I'm having a popcorn buffet (like a candy buffet) but my popcorn is coming from Texas :)

    The popcorn is definitely a good idea.  If you want to combine the aspects of Chicago and Texas-----ribs are popular at both!  A delicious small bottle of barbecue sauce would be amazing.  Or, cookies in the shape of the states of Texas and Illinois?

    I'm doing Garrett's popcorn as my favors!  Just remember - If you do anything liquid....make sure it is travel sized!  We went to a wedding in Tennessee and they gave out small bottles of wine as favors....we saw A LOT of people tossing them at the airport because they couldn't bring them through security!

    Or do Frango Mints -- I think they are at all the Macy's now but its def a Chicago sweet's tradition (Marshall Fields).

    OOOH....cookies in the shape of texas and illinois..what a great idea for part of a candy, cookie,popcorn buffet...i know a lady who can do that for you...she did my wedding with a white sox theme....

    We did Frango mints at our reception, they were a hit! None were left on the tables by the end of the night....
