I haven't used them yet. But I have booked them for my 4-28-12 wedding. I LOVE them so far...Sarah has been fantastic. All my questions have been answered within a day or two. More importantly, they haven't told me no to anything i want, no matter how off the wall my ideas have been!

I was going to look there but selected the Rialto Theater instead, but I've hear really wonderful things.  My ex boyfriends sister felt the need to facebook message me and let me know how wonderful they are there, so that's saying alot.  My photographer, who is also a friend of mine, has worked there quite a bit and he also said it was a great venue.

    :)

Sparkle1985 is also having her wedding there -- this month!

We worked with Amanda and Sue, and they were both so great!  The time I spent with them, they were very helpful and since its a family run business, they really know their stuff.  The church is gorgeous!!!  i also felt they were very reasonbly priced as well, compared to other similar venues.

I am having my wedding there this month!!!!!!!! oh geez I got exicted just typing it.  I will put up a review in September once all is said and done... but I will tell you that so far everything has been wonderful.  Amanda is the person I work with the most and I have not one complaint.  They are courteous, prompt, and are not afraid to give their input or ideas on top of what you throw at them.  When we tried the food, it was all good as well.  Obviously after my wedding I will be able to give an accurate review for the wedding itself but as far as planning with them, it has been very smooth.
I am getting married on the 27, so right now we are working on the timeline and getting the final guest count and they have so many ways to help me with this.  The whole planning process has been a breeze with them.  I hope this helps!!

I hate to be a bummer here but everyone that i have talked to that had a wedding here loved the venue very much.... BUT the surrounding area gets shady at night and they said the parking for guests was kind of sketchy.

My brother had his wedding there in 2007.  They worked with Sue and she was great.  The ceremony and reception were gorgeous, and the staff there was very accommodating and easy to work with.  I'm not sure how much they spent on it, but I know they were on a tight budget, and were very pleased with how it turned out.  We didn't have any issues with the guest parking.  The mansion itself felt very safe - there's a patio and other space outside for guests who want to get some fresh air.  The parking is about a block away and it was well-lit for us.  I suppose that would be something to check out though if you're nervous about it, since it's surrounded by a shady neighborhood.

Still, I would highly recommend it!

They have two reception sites on the mansion. The ballroom which has a parking lot shared with the church there and another on the other side of the courtyard with a parking lot just across the street. The neighborhood really isn,'t that bad! Joliet is always covered with cops and I live local and have never had any problems in the area.

I have been to a few weddings here, living in the area, and all of the receptions in the ballroom were great.  The few that I went to in the actual mansion were not what I would have expected.  It is a house with separate rooms, so only the people in the same room with the head table can see what is actually going on.  They do have everyone get up and stand by the stair case for toasts and cutting the cake.

This is a little late but... I booked at the Jacob Henry Mansion for July 2012. I've been working with Amanda and she has been wonderful! They let you use outside people for linens and chairs which I am doing because I found Chivari chairs for $7 (JH charges 8) and getting satin crinkle linens from the same place.

I was looking for a unique venue (not in a hotel or typical banquet hall) and it definitely fit everything I was looking for. We're having our ceremony in the church, the cocktail hour in the mansion, and dinner/dancing in the ballroom.

Overall, it's well worth checking out. Good Luck :)
