Galleria Marchetti: Reviews/Thoughts?

Hi Ladies,

My sister got engaged last Saturday and is doing her preliminary searches for a venue. She's looking for a venue that has a nice outdoor setting or even a patio and indoor for dinner. Something along the lines of Cantigny, the Arboretum, Botanical Gardens, Hyatt Lodge OB...

Anyway, she asked about Galleria Marchetti so I thought I would pose the question here. Any thoughts or reviews? Pictures?

If you  have any other ideas that might fit her description, I would greatly appreciate it. She has a fairly large budget.

Thanks, ladies.

It's a beautiful venue!  I've been there for work events though and the food has be so-so.

She could also look into the Peggy Notebaert museum or Cafe Brauer in Lincoln Park - I've been to weddings there and they were so beautiful.

I went to a wedding at Galleria Marchetti 2-3 years ago, and it was beautiful.  It was really convenient to have the wedding and reception at the same location, and there was a nice cocktail hour in between.  It was actually a Sunday wedding, around noon, followed by a "champagne brunch."  It was very nice and classy.
I would have loved to have my wedding at Garfield Park Conservatory.  It is a beautiful, natural setting, but over my budget.  We're having ours in the suburbs because of price.

Our venue, Salvatore's has a patio and indoor dinner. Cafe Brauer is awesome, a friend of mine had hers at the Lodge and also one at Harry Carrys Ballroom in the Westin Lombard, both had outdoor spaces and were pretty cool. I think the MCA has an outdoor space too.

But one of my favs is the Ivy Room! So gorgeous!!

I've been to a number of events there.  On the plus side, it's a convenient location for many, and it's beautiful.

On that negative side, the food is just okay, and IMO, it's very overpriced.  I went to a wedding there once that was very nice, but I know that it cost around $100K for about 200 people.

I would also suggest Salvatore's and the Ivy Room.
