Photographer Recommendations

Hey ladies! My FI and I are meeting with a few photographers in the next week or so and I just wanted to run them by you and see if anyone had any thoughts about them:

Photolosophy (already met with her - she is brand new)

Edward Fox Photography

George Street Photography

Steve Mateo Photography

Studio One (maybe)

Fred Fox Photography (maybe)

Any feedback would be great! This is such a huge part of the day and a major investment!  

PS - what are are odds of there being two photographers with "fox" in their names in the Chicagoland area???

I didn't meet with any of the above but I LOVE LOVE LOVE my photographer, Kara Schultz. She will work with your budget plus her packages include a disc of all the images from the day so you can have them printed wherever. I highly suggest you look at her and see her work

We are using Studio One in Naperville after it was highly by two of my coworkers.

We didn't met with any of the other ones you listed but we did meet with Bella Pictures and were not impressed that they wouldn't let us pick a photographer.

During my research, I decided to go against using a studio. My FH and I consider ourselves to be artistic kind of people, so we wanted a personal touch to the photos, rather than just getting a bunch of stuff in a package. We really liked Jeremy Lawson, but he was way out of our budget (4k+). We ultimately went with Victoria Sprung Photography, who is really creative, easy going, and within our budget (2k). I think she may be booked for 2011 now, though. www.sprungphoto.com

We looked at several you had listed but never meet with any of them.

We ended up booking with Timothy Whaley and have been VERY happy so far. Our e-pics turned out great and we LOVE our wedding photographer!

We went with Tom L from George Street. He was amazing, and so is the company!

Love is Bald

A girlfrend of mine used Edward Fox back in October and her pics are nice... they are very standard photos, not a whole lot of creative shots, but all in the same they did a good job.  All of her photos were available online after about a month after her wedding which she was thrilled with.  She said the price was right and felt more comfortable going with a studio vs. an independent.  I dont think you can go wrong with E.F..

My friends used Fred Fox and although they did like them, but she wished they were more creative in their pictures.  They were also annoyed by their outside shots - the photographer asked everyone to bring sunglasses...and most of their shots had us in sunglasses.  Or he wouldn't noticed that half the groomsmen still had them but the other set of guys and bridesmaids didn't.  And even after the groom requested pictures without sunglasses, it was more of an afterthought and never really got changed.

We went with Danielle Aquiline and loved her!

A friend of mine used George Street and her pictures came out very nice, but she thught the photographer was rude. Also, all pictures I've seen from Edward Fox/Fred Fox are kind of boring to me and look like the same types of shots they took back in the 70's. Ultimately though, you'll hear good and bad about everyone so just go with who you think feels right.

Holy Crap - Kara Shultz's work is really amazing! I've been emailing her over the last day or two, and not only is she super talented, but she's amazingly nice! She is a little pricey (for our budget), but I'm seriously considering her anyway. Thanks for the tip!

If you're still considering other photographers, may I suggest Tasha Schalk of Redwall Photography?  We also met with Kara Schultz but "clicked" a lot better with Tasha...  Her prices are (I think) pretty reasonable for the quality of work and what's included.  Good luck!

We just used Heather Parker and already got some photos posted on facebook from her. She was wonderful to work with.
