Crazy crazy night...

Wow - what a day.  I had class tonight, and while there, i got 2 calls that I didn't answer.  On my break I called my BFF/MOH and she found out today she's prego!!  I'm so excited for her, her hubby, & my godson!  They just started trying 3 weeks ago (yeah, fertile turtle) and everyone is thrilled!!

I called my sister back after class, and she's in the hospital.  Got into a car accident tonight and prob broke her arm.  She's at the hosp by herself (near St. Louis) since her hubby is on travel for work.  She sounds pretty shook up, but i'm glad she's ok. 

I called my grandma to tell her about my sister (we're very close) and she told me that after her fall on Friday, she doesn't think she'll be able to make the trip to Florida for our wedding.  She's in alot of pain and can barely walk.  She refuses to go to the Dr. but i'm calling the family that lives close, tomorrow to see if they can get her to go.  We have the flight insurance...and i'm not sure how that goes.  I'm just heartbroken.  I'm closer to her than I am my mom, and really wanted her there.        I understand her situation and that her health is more important than anything, but it still makes me sad.  

ETA: AND FI is out of town for work so I txt'd him about my sister & grandma and he made a joke about my family "dropping like flies"  really?  it just seemed inappropriate when my sister is at the ER and my grandma (who raised me and is like my mom) just backed out.  I'm prob oversensitive right now...

Oh no!!! So sorry that you had a rough night last night. I would be just as upset, or sad, as you are! Everything will still turn out great. I know it's hard, but there's a rhyme and reason for everything. Keep your head up lady!

Wow that is a lot of things going on in one night.  Very exciting news about your BFF and I'm glad your sister is ok.  I am so sorry about your grandma, that must be very tough since you are so close to her.  I think your thought is good about getting nearby family to convince her to to go the doctor and perhaps that will ease pain and allow her to still come to the weedding.  If not, maybe you can think of some other way to incorporate her (have a webcam or something).  

As for your FI's comment, I wouldn't take it too seriously or personally.  It sounds like he was just trying to lighten the mood, make you smile a bit since he probably knows that you are upset.

Oh wow, sorry all of that is happening to you. Your FI was probably just trying to get you to laugh to lighten the situation. I'm sure he's well aware of all of the stress your already under and that this was the last thing you needed to hear. I'm sure he meant well.

I hope everyone gets better quickly.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments....I didn't know who else to talk to and it's so great to have you guys there!    

Crazy how things change in 8 hrs....
  My cousin called at 7 this morning to say that she talked to my grandma and told her that shes taking her to the Dr. but also how nuts she's being by asking me to canx the plane ticket.  The wedding is a month and a half away and that by then she'll prob feel much better.  My grandma called me at 7:30 and said NOT to canx the flight - that she's already feeling better (neck doesn't hurt today...ect) and that she can't wait to celebrate with us.  My cousin is a single mom, so apparenty she got out her mommy voice.   

  I talked to my sister this am too, while the car is totaled, she's doing ok.  Shes on some pain meds but was mostly shaken and scared last night when I talked to her.  Her arm isn't broken but sprained and bruised pretty badly.  All-in-all, she's ok which is what is important.

  I know FI prob meant well and like you said trying to get me to make light of the situation, and of course it's not even like i'd mention anything to him about the comment. I was just worried...about both my sister & grandma.  N-way, i'm  glad grandma has asked me not to cancel the flight, and that she's feeling better.

  My bestie is sooo excited!!  I am too.  It's really crazy - she told me a month ago she thought she was prego but took a test and it came out negative.  She took another one last week, still negative.  After my fitting on Sat she said she was still
feeling crappy and if she wasn't prego, something was really wrong!  She took another test yesterday and sure enough!  Funny how in-tune w/ her body she is.  So she's about 4 weeks!!

Thanks again everyone!  Everything happened so late last night and I just really needed to tell someone...how crazy it all was.

Wow, so she could feel something was different so quickly? Is that even possible? I'm assuming this isn't her first child. That's pretty darn amazing. Like the opposite of the show 'I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant'!

Wow! I read your original post and then the second post. I'm so sorry all of those things happened last night but its amazing how things have been turning around for everyone. I hope your sister and grandma continue to do well! And enjoy the new baby!!
