Affordable (read: cheap) reception venues in the city

Hi all-

I've done a lot of research on reception venues around the city, but I cannot find any that realistically fit our budget. Any ideas about venues that hold ~180 people for a rental fee around $2000 and food prices that are also under ~$80 (preferably cheaper, unless it includes a lot). I am also looking for something unique. I've already looked into  the zoo, parks, etc. I want to keep it in the city, preferably downtown, west loop, bucktown, LP, lakeview are, etc.

Thanks!!!

I know that the DoubleTree on MagMile has prices around $90 per person including passed hor douerves, dinner, cake, and open bar.  There is no rental fee so maybe that's where you could stretch your budget a little.  It also comes with linens, chair covers, and sashes.  They even offered us an extra hour of open bar when we were talking to them without us even having to ask for it.  We ended up going with a different place, but you definitely get a lot for your money here.  I've heard that they're good with working with you on adding extras as well.  Good luck!

our reception is in the west loop at aeree loft/room 1520.  prairie productions is similar.

the base rental fee is a little higher, i think $3800 or so?  but they were willing to negotiate with us, and the great thing is that you can use whatever caterer you want.  you can also bring in your own alcohol, provided a licensed bartender/caterer serves it.  so, that lowered our catering bill significantly enough to justify the higher venue rental cost.

i feel like when i looked into city parks, they were more expensive than a  lot of other venues.  they also had vendor lists you had to follow for rentals and catering, which jacked up the prices.  that seemed crazy to me.  it's a park!

This post is a little late, but I recommend looking at Pazzo's at 311 S Wacker downtown if you haven't already. They have 3 packages all under $75 each.  Rental is $2500 and the wedding coordinator is super nice and accommodating.
