NEED HELP IN CHICAGO!!!!

I'm on a tight budget and am having a hard time looking for a place/hall/ballroom/whatever to have my reception at. I am looking into having a buffet style reception but if it is a plated per person, then I don't want to go over $25 per person. It can be in Chicago or nearby but not too far.

Thanks Smile

Check into the smaller surrounding suburbs; however, even those are expensive for a hotel/ballroom seated dinner.  I personally grew up in the DeKalb/Sycamore area.  It is about 1 hourish northwest of the city (by Rockfordish area).  There are a few places there were you can get a sit down dinner for about 25 dollars a person.  They are definitely "quaint" though as it is a smaller area (about 45-60,00 people total between the two towns.)  Things are cheaper though.  Try Chapel in the Pines or Blumen Gardens for ceremony and reception places.  You could cater from Nat's on Maple for about the price per plate that you want.  You could get married by NIU and there is a pretty lagoon or the Elwood House for pictures. They have several options for receptions by NIU (Duke Ellinington Ballroom).  There are several churches if you want a church wedding (I used to go to St. Mary's and it's beautiful).  Also, there is a place called South Pointe Center where you can get a sit down catered meal for about 25 dollars a plate.  It may be too far or too quaint but I have seen some cute stuff done at all the above places.  You could also try St. Charles, Geneva, Naperville, or Oak Brook.  They will definitely be more expensive but also a bit trendier.  Good luck in your search!

It's going to be hard to not go over $25 a person in the city of Chicago so you may want to start looking outside the city. Think maybe restrauants or even doing a cocktail style reception with either passed hor dourves or buffet hordourves. Also a lot of places around here offer packages--dinner, certain # of hours of open bar, cake, reception all in one and some places may have a dollar minimum you may have to hit. Friday or Sunday's will get you a discount as will getting married in the off season--Nov-March around here. Think about the burbs or even NW Indiana to get more for your money.

    check out www.mariosevents.com
They have a wide variety of menu choices and can fit the bill of 25 per person WITHOUT BAR. Add in a Bar and you are looking at up to 16 more for a full bar, but you could do beer and wine for much less.

They have multitides of venue's they work with on their website. I hope this helps!
    Good Luck!

Try the Southwest Suburbs, Crystal Light Banquets i know is less expensive and they work with you pricewise.  There are so many options in that area.
