Location...location...location!!!

My fiance and I are in the very beginning stages of planning our wedding, but having a very difficult time finding a location we really like. We currently live in the south suburbs of Chicago, but are open to the location of our reception..Naperville, Downers Grove, Oak Brook, Lombard, etc. We would just prefer to avoid the city as it gets very expensive for us as well as our guests! We would prefer to get married outdoors and have an indoor reception, but would really like to have a hotel on site or VERY close. If anyone has suggestions I would greatly appreciate it!!!!!

My brother got married at Drury Lane in Oakbrook. It was really nice and has a hotel on site the only thing I'm not sure about is if they do outdoor weddings there. I am getting married on 7-7-12 at Old Orchard Country Club in Mt. Prospect, it's a little bit away from the towns you suggested but the price is very reasonable. We are getting married outside in their garden and having the reception indoors. There is no hotel on site but the hotel we are staying in is 2 miles away and offers a free shuttle. The hotel we are staying in also has a bar that is open until 2:30 so after our reception ends our guest can continue to celebrate :). I don't know what your price range is but we did look at the Lincolnshire Marriott and the Hyatt in Schaumburg, they were nice but a little more pricey than Old Orchard and you get more for your money at Old Orchard as well.

I would highly recommend the Hyatt-Woodfield in Schaumburg! We just had our reception there. Our guests still are talking about the food :) I don't know that they would have a ceremony location for outside though...

We also looked at: Hyatt Lodge Oak Brook (our date was taken), Westin Lombard (nice but we got more for our money at the Hyatt), Westin Ohare (eh), Hotel Arista (Naperville--very nice), Doubletree Oakbrook (eh)

We are getting married at Cantigny, which has several outdoor ceremony sites and an indoor reception location.

There is also Danada House in Wheaton.

It may be a bit out of your way, but Winnetka Community House has an ourdoor garden and a reception facility right off the garden area.  Depending on your guest count, it may be worth a look.  We are having our wedding there and there are hotels in the area that will provide shuttles for guests that stay at the hotels.  Good luck!

Drury Lane Oakbrook is great.  I LOVE their food.  They have a hotel next store to them that you work with for book rooms. I dont know to much about getting married outside but if they cant do that onsite they may be able to tell you where to go locally for that.  I am having my reception at Venuti's in Addison. It is a great location it is at 355 and Lake St.  There are 3 hotel within 5 minutes of this location.  I know that there is no outdoor location for a wedding but about 5 minutes from there in Itasca there is an area that you can use for your wedding.  The outdoor area in Itasca is at Irving Park rd and Walnut.  I hope this helps you.  Good luck.

Cantigny and Danada House are two that come to mind where you can get married outdoors and have indoor reception.  I wrote a quick review on here re a wedding we attended at Danada House a couple of weeks ago.

H and I married at the courthouse but we had a small reception at Klein Creek Golf Club in Winfield.  That turned out really nice and I know they do outdoor ceremonies as well.

I'm not sure what your budget is like or when your wedding is, but here are some suggestions:

    Arrowhead Golf Club in Wheaton
    Oakbrook Hills Marriott
Lisle/Naperville Hilton (I don't think they do outdoor ceremonies, but we've attended two weddings and several events here and it's a nice hotel)
    Oak Brook Drake Hotel
    Morton Arboretum in Lisle
    Meson Sabika in Naperville
Hyatt Lodge in Oak Brook (pricy, but we attended a beautiful wedding here)
Ditto PP rec's of Cantigny and Danada House

    Good luck!

I checked out the Westin in Itasca, Eaglewood Resort in Itasca, Meson Sabika in Naperville (a bit smaller than I thought).

You should also check out Danada House & Klein Creek (Winfield..right by wheaton)

WE were married at Mayslake Peabody Estate in Oak Brook. They have several outdoor spaces for weddings. We were married in front of the chapel. The mansion has several rooms for an indoor reception. All on the same property and hundreds of acres of land with a lake for pics. We did pics all over their property, and inside the mansion.

This is not a full service site. You need to hire your own catering and bar. I liked the idea, because it enabled me to control my costs a bit better. Our wedding was gorgeous, loved the place. They have all the tables and chairs so you won't have to rent those.

Since it's in Oak Brook there are several hotels within 5 minutes drive of the property.

    Good Luck!

The Hyatt Lodge in Oak Brook offers exactly what you are looking for! We are planning an outdoor wedding there, indoor reception.  It is a hotel, so everyone can just stay there! It is pricy, but it is a gorgeous location! Our reception is in the Grand Oaks Pavilion, which has floor to ceiling windows.

The new Crowne Plaza hotel in Glen Ellyn is really nice and all their food comes from Glen Prairie (their restaurant on site). The food is awesome; we just had a work event there. They're right off of 355 and Roosevelt. Very modern hotel and these cool video walls and ceiling lighting with their ballroom.

    Gina,

I was actually considering Old Orchard as one of my choices, would you mind sharing around how much that is going to cost you, I don't need the exact amount but a range would be greatly appreciated. Also how many guests are you having? I just got engaged last week so my mind is filled with ideas!!!!

    Thanks so much
