When to send Thank Yous

Hello!  So, we've started to receive wedding gifts in the mail, some from people who will be at the wedding, and some from people who can't make it.  Are we supposed to send the thanks you cards right now, or wait until aftr the wedding in June?  Does it make a difference whether the gift sender will or will not actually be at the wedding?  Thanks so much!

I would send the thank you right away so the gift giver knows you are in receipt. You will have a ton of thank you's to send right after the wedding so this is just one less you have to do.  It does not make a difference if they will be at the wedding. They gave you a gift therefore you give a thank you.

Agreed. Send it when you receive the gift.

I agree with pp and also to add, I think you are supposed to send a thank you card right away but I don't think you are supposed to use the item until after the wedding.

I've always heard that you should try to send thank yous within 2 weeks of receiving a gift for all gifts that you receive before the wedding. Gifts received at the wedding should get thank yous within a month of returning from your honeymoon.

Thanks for the input ladies!  I will be going to the store today to pick up some thank you cards!
