How was your experience? Can I get a cake for under 1000 to serve 150-170 people?

I called and emailed about 10 different places to get ideas on cake prices before pulling the trigger. I found that while Amy Beck's designs are amazing her prices are steep. I was quoted $1200 for approx 150-175ppl with a basic vanilla cake, strawberry filling and buttercream frosting. Decoration was basic ribbon around each layer.

I opted to go with Deerfield bakery who I've used a number of times for various parties. For the same cake they are charging approx $540 + delivery. The quality of their cakes has always been top-notch!

She is a bit pricier than some around, but definitely not the most expensive, and her cakes are beautiful and delicious. Bleeding Heart quoted us starting at $10/person. There is more expensive out there, but also less expensive. Keep looking. Cake tastings are one of the most fun parts of the wedding planning (in my opinion).
