Appetizers/h'orderves and Dessert Reception Help

We were trying to save money so we decided to have only appetizers and desserts at our reception.  Does anyone have any ideas of a cheap way to do this.  It's seeming to be more expensive than what I was planning??  Our reception is going to be in Barrington.

Have you already selected a venue or are you still browing and getting quotes?

Renting a venue and providing your own catering is hit or miss.  Some venues charge very high fees just to rent their place-I saw places quoting upwards of $2500 to rent their facility for a reception.  If you aren't already, try looking for a restaurant to have your reception at-that way you won't be stuck paying a huge rental fee before you've even bought any food or drink. 

If you still can't find any restaurants or caterers within your price range, do it the other way around-give them your price range and guest count and ask what they can provide for that price.
