Bridesmaid Dresses

Hello Ladies!

I'm looking for bridesmaid dresses and am in need of a few suggestions on where to go shopping for them.  I originally thought to go to House of Brides but after all the negative reviews I've read/heard about them, I'd like to avoid them.  I'd also like to keep the dress cost at around $150 and want to keep my search in the suburbs.

Any suggestions or recommendations?  I'd greatly appreciate any help!  Thank you in advance!

Re: Bridesmaid Dresses

  • For the price point you are citing, your best bet is probably David's Bridal.  You can get the most variety and certainly the widest color palette there.  Having said that, however, do not discount department stores.

Ann Taylor, for example, is offering 40% off their entire wedding party line.  The selection may not be as expansive, but the prices are great!

Other stores such as JCrew, The Limited, White House, Black Market all also carry bridal lines that may surprise you.
  • I too wanted to stay in that price point and the only place is Davids. Due to my BM's being all diff shapes and sizes Davids didnt work for me....for now. I found the designer jordanfashions.com and they I think are everything I am hoping for!!!! and they range from $160-$230. I have an appt to look at the line this sun.....I am keeping my fingers crossed.

  • IMy BM dresses are Alfred Angelo through Bridal Mansion in Lisle.  I should have gone through them from the beginning, I started out ordering them through HOB but they called after a few of my girls had already placed orders and said they weren't carrying Alfred Angelo.  Big mess for a lot of brides.  From what I've seen with Alfred Angelo's line they do have some with a lower price range, mine ended up being about $150 (before tax & stuff) with a bit of a discount.  Bridal Mansion has been great, Jenn there is awesome!
  • I used HOB for my girls to try on bridesmaid dresses, but definitely wouldn't order through them given all of the negative reviews.  My maid of honor found a bunch of dresses by Bari Jay, and HOB was one of the only places we could find in Chicago that carried a lot of the styles the girls liked.
We ordered the dresses through Le Salon, which is based out of both Chicago and Michigan.  They guarantee price match, and matched the price I found posted on an online store.  My girls are getting a dress that was $210 at HOB for just under $150 through Le Salon.  Hope this helps!

  • I used JCrew for my bridesmaids dresses. One of the stores on Michigan Ave has a bridal boutique where you can browse the special occassion dresses.  Then, wait for a sale online.  :)  My girls paid $100 for theirs.
  • I definitely recommend Wolsfelts in Aurora. They have some nice gowns that are priced lower than what I have seen them elsewhere.
  • Here comes the bride in Addison had pretty good priced BM dresses...It was hard to find dresses for under 150...first you need to find the designers that have under 150 brides..then look for where they are at...We ended up getting our dresses at nordstrom..then changed our minds...then Black and white market...check jcrew and other non wedding stores for good deals.
