DIY-epic fail

So I went a bit diy crazy a few weekends ago and decided I was going to do all these cute things I've been seeing in pictures on etsy. I figured I better get it all done before classes start again so I bought everything that I needed at once. I turned my living room into crafters central for 3 days and you know what?.....Lemme tell you....I should have let the etsy crafters do it for me because apparently I have no crafty bones in my body anymore. I did manage to make small paper flowers (185) in 3 colors which I plan on incorporating with my place cards, spray painted some Mr. and Mrs. wooden letters and picture frames for cake table, made drink stirrers, and attempted those pomerander balls. I gave up after the first ball because it looked awful. I guess I don't have the patience to puff the tissue up. Or I gave up because I am pretty sure I have an acute case of carpal tunnel from making the paper flowers. I also attempted these chair things which looked terrible as well. So anyway, one other thing I learned is that crafting isn't cheap. I don't know why this was such a shock....I did work at Michaels in high school. I distinctly remember ringing up $500 orders all the time. Mine wasn't nearly that much but I'd say I spent about $70 on everything after returning what I could. If I ever find my camera, I'll post some pictures. I think my crafting days are done now. I think I will suck it up and pay for stuff for premade stuff from now on. :)

I have not one crafty bone in my body! Sorry you had a rough time but I agree with leaving it up to Etsy. :)

Awe, I love crafting for our wedding! I hated the tissue pomanders as well, I ripped almost every piece and they looked awful, so instead we are doing fabric ones which are time consuming but not too bad. Lots of scissor time and hot glue too!

I think it's good you realized what you can and cannot do! I did a few DIY things, but realized that since I am horrible at crafts, wasting money on the supplies could actually be more expensive than just letting someone else do it right the first time!

I started attempting to make the pomander balls as well... it did not end well!!

On a positive note, I will never have to buy tissue paper to wrap presents ever again! lol
