Videographer

Good morning and Happy Friday ladies!

After a brief hiatus to focus on nonwedding stuff (work- psh) I'm back into the swing of things!  One thing that I've been dodging is choosing a videographer.  Personally, it isn't something that I feel particular passionate about, but everyone tells me that I will regret it if we don't have someone.

On that note, do any of you have recommendations?  Our wedding is on the northside of the city and our reception is downtown.  Are you getting just your ceremony on video or parts of the reception as well?

Re: Videographer

  • We are having both the ceremony and reception filmed. We are using www.midwestvideoproductions.com

  • I think it depends on what you want - some only want raw video, some want more of a "film" quality.  I was in your boat once upon a time and then I saw the work of our eventual cinematographer and decided to invest heavily in a really good vendor.

I agree with the other people in saying that I would have regretted not having one and two years later, being able to watch the Same Day Edit or feature has been great for me to relive my wedding without watching 8 hours of raw film (I know of some people who do that every wedding anniversary).

A lot of knotties recommend Orange Films here - JJ is very good and is well regarded nationally by his peers.  I believe that his price point is at least $3500+ if not higher but in many ways you get what you pay for!

I recently commissioned an 8 min film for my daughter's first birthday party with Pogi Films - they are still in college for film but have been doing weddings and SDEs for some clients.  I wanted something to captue that milestone event and they didn't break my bank...then again I only had them there for about 3 hours.  We had two shooters and they were pretty reasonable.  Most importantly, I was happy with the output.  You can view their films on Vimeo:

    Good luck!

  • I sent you a PM!!!
  • I would check out Shiloh Studios. Their work seems really good, we booked them for our 10/13 wedding. We liked their style and Chris was really nice. They are located in Aurora, but will travel.

  • I second Shiloh Studio. We are using them for our wedding in July. Chris, the owner, is extremely nice and very easy to work with. Their prices are also reasonable in comparison to what I'd seen for similar styles. Hope that helps!

  • We just booked Shilo Studios as well. Chris was great, very professional and their prices are reasonable compared to some of the other videographers I found. He offers different packages. We are having him do pre-ceremony, ceremony and reception. Below is their website:
