So my FI was laid off from his job last Friday. The contract his now-former job had with the government (they made shipping containers for the military) was suddenly cancelled last Thursday. When FI told me about the cancellation, I had a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach, but had no idea that they would let him (and many others) go the next day. Luckily it wasn't a job he was particularly fond of, but now he holds himself responsible, especially since we had just started looking for a house (and we found one that we both absolutely ADORED) - which must now be put on hold for obvious reasons. A friend of his works at a local university in the IT department, which is an area in which my FI has worked in before. The friend told FI to send in a resume (exactly a week before he got laid off, oddly enough), which FI did as soon as he was let go. Now comes the waiting. I can't focus on anything other than FI getting an interview to this job. FI has mostly been in good spirits, but I can tell that he's not himself. I feel so silly trying to plan wedding things when all of this is going on. I really hope he gets this interview....
