Outdoor Late Sept Wedding?

I'm planning a 2013 wedding and we were planning on July or later. I was thinking September 21st but I really want an outdoor ceremony and am starting to wonder if late September is not a good idea due to the chilly weather we are already experiencing this Sept

It's impossible to say. I had a friend get married the first week of November a few years back and it was like 80 degrees. Sept is still typically decent weather, but no matter what the month, you should probably have a backup indoor plan.

I was married in an outside ceremony on 10/16/10 and it was absolutely gorgeous out!! 77 degrees and sunny; perfect weather.

The previous year, 2009, the week of 10/16, it snowed briefly.

SIL got married in July 2009 and the high was only 70 degrees on her wedding day.  Somehow our wedding, 3 months after her wedding's time of year, was almost 10 degrees warmer.

It's really, honestly, just hit or miss.  If an outdoor ceremony is your "dream"; I'd say go for it, but sure to have a backup plan.

Thanks I really want an outdoor wedding. I am looking for a place with a nice back-up and I think Oak Brook Bath and Tennis has great options. I think July and Aug are so hot that I was leaning towards Sept

I had my heart set on one too, and it worked out well for us!  Best of luck.

We had an outdoor wedding on 9-11 last fall. We married at Mayslake Peabody Estate in Oak Brook, also a beautiful venue.

It rained all day up until 2 pm, just in time for photos and the sun broke out and it was beutiful. It's a total crap shoot in the Chicagoland area. If you have an outdoor wedding in mind the most important factor is you must have a SOLID PLAN B in case of bad weather.

It can be done, you just have to plan for everything. Check weather.com for average temps and rainfall in September.

Best of luck, we loved our outdoor wedding.

Ditto that it's totally hit or miss, but I'd say go for it (with a solid back-up plan just in case you get rain/wind/whatever that day).  I think as long as your wedding is outside of November-April, you're good to have an outdoor ceremony.  Good luck and have fun planning!
