My FI and I are having an interfaith marriage, Catholic and Greek Orthodox. We've already established that we will be getting married in the Catholic Church, as my family is more involved in our faith. I have consulted with my Catholic priest and he said that the Greek Orthodox priest was more than welcome to come to the church for our ceremony to incorporate Greek traditions and elements to the ceremony (we are not having the whole mass). This is something that is very important to my FI. The only problem is that the Orthodox priest we talked with will not do this.
Has anyone else out there had a ceremony such as this? We're going to try and ask a few more Orthodox priests in hopes of finding one that is more open to this idea, and I thought of looking for a group of retired priests that may agree to this. Does anyone have any ideas?
I know that we could always do a small ceremony/blessing type deal at a later date in the Orthodox church, but I'm trying my best to make both families happy. Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
