Ritz Carlton or my uncle's glass green house it would have been too expensive to rent everything and decorate the place plus they already are growing flowers in there in April

i love the renissance in schaumburg...i have stayed at the hotel and looked around at their facillities...i love the very modern look of it but it was way too much for me...i have a client that got married at the museum of contemporary art and her photos were beautiful...didn't want to look there because i would have probably loved it and then been sad since it was out of my budget.
the one place that slipped my mind was Comiskey Park (US Cellular field) my FI and i are huge sox fans so it would be fitting :)
    BUT...
i love my venue..it's the westin in itasca. there was just something about it when i walked in the front door..i just knew it was the one!!!

Trump Tower probably. Really anything downtown with amazing views. Shedd tops up there too.

Buckingham Fountain (I'm not sure you can do that) Peggy Notebaert Museum or the Harold Washington Library.

I am lucky enough to have my dream venue....the River East Art Center.  It is everything I wanted, and my mom happened to agree!  It was between the REAC and the Chicago History Museum, which I LOVED....but the room set up just couldn't do what we needed. :-)

I have my dream venue....BUT if I was a millionaire, I might change things up. Fly everyone up to the Fairmont Banff Springs in Canada. It is a GORGEOUS castle hotel that has the most amazing backdrop. http://www.fairmont.com/banffsprings/Photos/

Wish we could get married at the Museum of Contemporary Art. We like the minimal and modern look. If I had the money, it would also be nice to know I was supporting such a great organization that promotes the arts.

Ditto on the Shedd! I love aquariums. Also I think Cafe Brauer is beautiful. However, I loved our venue and am so glad we chose it.

I really wanted the Chicago History Museum, but $9000 just to get in the door was way out of my price range. Too bad, it's beautiful and perfect for a history teacher!

VSTU....I was quoted 8K @ the history museum, and the REAC met it.  Everything is negotiable ladies!!!

One thing about cafe brauer....apparently the acoustics are AWFUL and it makes your dj/band sound less than great! Something to think about!

just thought of a few more...in Chicago: the Drake--it's just so classic!
but what I would LOVE to do if cost and travel were not a factor--wedding in Napa Valley at a winery. Completely romantic and nothing like we've ever done before.

@mrspaps--my friend had her wedding at a vineyard in Temecula, CA (so not Napa, but similar). It was gorgeous!

I would have loved to have my reception at the REAC.  Penelope - I'm so jealous that they negotiated with you!  The person I talked to there said that the rental fee was a firm number and that they wouldn't negotate.

Although if money truly weren't an option, I agree with Mrs. Paps, I would rent out a vineyard in Napa and fly everyone out there :)

Prague Castle in the Czech Republic... with Goulash soup all around :D
  • edited December 2011
I have found that if you pay more of the deposit upfront, they will lower the rental fee.  That's exactly what we did....paid 6k instead of 5k up front, and they lowered the fee to meet the 8k the history museum wanted!
