Pre-Cana

Has anyone done Pre-Cana in chicago?  Which Church?   How much did it cost and how many days did you have to go to?  Did you have to do reconciliation and foccus?

The church I'm looking at is $400 for Precana and Foccus, and its 3-4 days, which seems like a lot.  Most people I know did 2 days.

Thanks!

We just did it at Old St. Pat's. It was from 9am-4:30pm on one Saturday and cost $190. We did not have to do reconciliation or FOCCUS.  You should go to the family ministries website. They list all of the locations and schedules for the Pre-Cana which should mostly just be a one day thing.

We went to the Cardinal Meyer Center... I believe we paid 190  and we were there all day prety much - and that was it.  1 day.

A lot of places do it for a 3 days but its broken down to small sessions.

Ditto, but not at St. Pats.  We're actually doing it this Saturday.

We did ours at Sacred Heart in Palos Hills.  It was 3.5 hours on a weeknight.  I think we had to donate 25 dollars.  You have to look in their bulletin or call the church to see when they are doing it again....it was great because the priest who ran it is very contemporary.  The only thing is that you have to check with your parish to make syre they will take it.

I wish Sacred Heart did ours....thats where we are getting married.  We are doing ours in Sept in a Church off of like 54th and Narraganset.  Its $190...we had to go with the "special pre cana" because we live together (for the last year) and are both over 30

We are doing ours through St. Clement in Lincoln Park, since that is where we are getting married.  It does not cost anything for us, and it is one night a week for 4 weeks.

We really did not want to pay for it, and this wway we can mingle with other couples from our church, so it is not bad.

He did ours through St. Michaels Church- it was a full day workshop 9-4 but you signed up through the St. Charles Pastoral Counseling Center.  I believe it was 120.00.  We also met with a couple 5 times (once a week).  We gave them a gift card at the end because they donated their time, but you are not required to pay.

We did the same thing as Annie_Warbucks above.  Except ours was at a different church (in Forrest Park).  My FI and I actually really enjoyed it.  Our leaders were very down to earth and open.

Our company provides an online Pre Cana at http://www.themarriagegroup.com
We are working with the Archdiocese of Chicago to produce our latest version of the classes now and it will be available soon.
