One favor/placecard per guest - what if I don't know the plus 1's names?

I received a response card the other day from a friend who apparently doesn't know who she's bringing to the wedding :) her response was "sue smith and guest".  Since we are doing placecards/favors in one, what do I write on the plus 1's if I don't know their name?  would it just be "sue smith (guest)" or "sue smith's guest" or "sue smith"  or none of the above?
                                          "guest"

thanks :)

I would just try to find out who she is bringing before you write hers up.

Are you giving the +1  a favor?  I was under the impression that most people give a favor "per couple"?

    I could be wrong though!

I thought about that but if I have several of these, I don't want to have to call each one to find out.  Yes, we planned on giving the plus 1's a favor but I suppose we don't need to.  Hmmm...something to think about before I go buy everything for them.

We did one per couple, so it would be "Sue Smith and Guest" (but I would do as PP said and try to find out their name).

I'd do escort cards with both parties on them, as suggested above.  Place cards on the table really aren't necessary-- folks can figure out how to arrange themselves once you tell them which table at which to sit.  "Mr. James Jones and Guest - Table 7" will also save on paper costs!

We did one escort card per person, as they also denoted the individual's dinner choice. We called/emailed people that just put "and guest" in the RSVP; it wasn't a big deal at all.

We also gave favors to each person- Garrett's popcorn, yum!

I have a friend that wants me to put "undecided" on his guest's place card as a funny gag.  I've been hounding him for weeks to find out if he "figured out" who he's bringing.  What went on when we didn't have email?  We'd actually have to call them?  The horror!
