Need Chicago Themed Inspiration!!

So with all the major venues and contracts signed, I am now turning to decorations and favors with 8 mths to go till my wedding. I want to get more ideas for chicago themed weddings but don't have the time to go through the 150 chicago real weddings. If you find anything that you think would be of interest...for me..or other brides to be who are looking for this theme...please post. Websites are also welcome. I will continue my search....but I could use all the help I can get. Happy planning!!!

Re: Need Chicago Themed Inspiration!!

  • I had a cousin who did a Chicago skyline motif.  She used it on her stationary and cake.  It turned out very modern and cute.

  • Zazzle has great old travel posters.  We got some as postcards and used them as our STDs.  Good luck!

  • Locations around the city for table numbers, your DH's fav. chicago sport team for a grooms cake...I'll think of more!

Also try doing a quick search on Etsy for Chicago wedding.  My bio has some Chicago themes we are using.

  • I got married this past NYE in downtown Chicago and had a lot of Chicago-themed things.  For favors and/or out-of-town guest bags you can have Frango mints, Garrett's popcorn, and lemonheads (the company that makes them are Chicago-based).  All of these things were in our out-of-town guest bags along with playing cards with the Chicago skyline on them.

We also incorporated the Chicago skyline onto all of our stationary...STDs, invitations, placecards, welcome letters, programs, etc.

I also went to a wedding earlier last year where the table numbers/names were pictures of the couple at each Chicago landmark.  They drove around the city for an entire afternoon and had someone take their picture in front of 20+ Chicago landmarks.  I thought it was awesome because it wasn't just a picture of the place...the couple actually went through the trouble to get a picture in front of each one...very cool.  I wanted to steal it for my wedding, but she was a good family friend and there were too many mutual guests haha.

    Good luck!
  • When I want to give a classy Chicago gift, I get Tiffany glass picture frames at the Art Institute or the Chicago Architecture Foundation gift shop.  I think they're $25-40 each.  Of course, they sell Tiffany lamps too. If nothing more, you could have a picture of you and your FI in a tiffany frame next to the guest book.
