FI and are are taking lessons, but I don't even know where to start.  Any suggestions? How many times did you go? How much did you pay?  Were you happy with it?

TIA ladies!!! Laughing

If you are in the NW suburbs, a new dance center has opened in the Deer Park mall in Deer Park.  The website is a bit tricky to navigate, but it does list the type of dances and fees incurred with each class.

It just opened in the Fall, 2010, so I am not aware if anyone has taken a class.  Just thought I would pass along the information since suburban classes are few and far between!

We are starting dance lessons this week.  My parents decided that they wanted to take the dance lessons with us. The four of us actually took lessons through the park district about a year and half ago.  We didn't like it....there were too many people in the class. We are taking it through an individual dance instructor who is charging $25 a lesson for a hour for my fiance and I and then $25 for my parents a lesson.  This was a lot cheaper than going to Arthur Murray and Fred Astaire.  He rents out space at a condominium association clubhouse and has dance parties on Friday night.

Thanks for the suggestion mobkaz! I live in the NW suburbs and all I have found nearby are ballet, tap, and jazz studios. I'm going to call the place you suggested tomorrow.

We took lessons at Dance Center Chicago, in the city.  They charged $55 for an hour private lesson.  They also have group ballroom dancing classes for $12/person/class (I think).

We went with Szewai Lee of Ballroom Dance Chicago.  I think this is the link:  http://ballroomdancechicago.com/

I don't remember how much we paid, but we did about 10 lessons (probably could have been done with lessons at 7 or 8 though).  She was very patient with us and our dance turned out beautifully!  I highly recommend her and Matthew!

I just called the dance center that mobkaz recommended and we have an appointment to meet with an instructor in February. Our initial class is $25 and our instructor said he could show us the types of dances that go with the songs we are considering for our first dance. I can update with more information on their pricing after our first lesson.
