RSVP card wording...is this considered practical or rude?

So in floating around google, I saw an RSVP card with the additional line in it saying

"______ seat(s) have been reserved in your honor"

before "accepts or declines"

Is this a smart idea, unnecessary, or rude?

I think it's okay...but is it possible to print out the number of seats instead of you handwriting?

For a few friends, some got dates and some didn't, so we had a few printed that say "A seat has been reserved for you" or "Two seats have been reserved for you"

That's a good idea. If I do it, I'll ballpark count who is date-less and have them printed accordingly. Thanks!

    ours says
    "_____ of 2 will attend
     _____ will not attend"

this helped avoid any confusion on how many guests we're expecting and so far, no extras!

This is a PERFECT way of doing it, I did the same verbiage, but I did not put __ of 2 <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-frown.gif" border="0" alt="Frown" title="Frown" />, so I had some guest listing themselves +3, and even one person tried to invite 4 other people....No way....I wish I would have listed my invitation responsonses as the PP has listed.

Definitely limit the guest total put the number on there, it saves you stress and unneccessary phone calls.  <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" />

Since I am printing my own - My thought was to go one step further And list out their names & use check boxes

_ Mr. Edward Smithe will attend
_Mrs. Sally Jones will attend ( or Guest of Edward Smithe)
    _will not attend

Too many gate crashers at the last few weddings...

I think this is the most ideal way to eliminate other guests....however it can also be the most costly (if you're paying someone to print) and/or timeconsuming (if printing yourself)
