save the dates...?

i need help. i'm going to order my save the dates and i want to make sure i've got everything included that's necessary. i saw something like this in a bridal magazine and kind of made it my own. keep in mind that my fiance is currently living 4 hours away :P so this is a fun way of playing that up. here's what i've got so far....

After 25 months of dating, 31,248 miles of driving long distance, thousands of minutes on the phone and countless bottles of wine...HE FINALLY POPPED THE QUESTION!!!

Please save the date for the exchanging of vows between K and B on 6-22-2012 in Orland Park, Illinois.

Formal invitation to follow.

Thoughts????

I think it's super cute....depends though on how your family and friends are and if they would get the humor :)  Do you have the reception sight yet or a wedding website to put on there?

Nah, I don't think that they are super important, I did one because well...I've stood up in a million weddings and have gone to a million more...and I'm the kind of girl who ends up throwing everything (like invites) away...so I did a really generic wedding website that people can go to in case they lose their invite...(I haven't even given it out yet...still working on it...save the dates are next for me)  but my save the dates are magnets...so i figure they can't lose those...and our wedding website will be on there...soooooo if they are like me and toss the invite they can find all the info on the website, ya dig?  It took me a few days to do it...but I think its fun to do that kind of stuff...I did mine at wedding wire....I think you could do it on the knot too.

I agree about the wedding website. I am doing mine on the knot and will include it on our save the dates. I figure if people are antsy to know more details (like I always am) they can look there to find out more about the day!

I agree penelope!  Only one of my friends did one...and I loved it!  I was always reading up about stuff....I like to be prepared for things :)  Especially what to do in between the ceremony and reception if you are in an area that you arent familiar with.  Def a good thing to put on there, if I might add.

LOL re: Boring. Yes, my bf is also pretty boring and traditional. We'll see if he likes my ideas. He totally doesn't get the cocktail hour. He thinks people should just come to the reception, find their seat, sit down and eat. BORING.
