Pinstripes in South Barrington Reviews

Hi all,

My fiance & I began looking at wedding venues & came across Pinstripes in South Barrington.  We really think it would be fun (guests could play bocce during the cocktail hour & then our after party would include bowling) & they seem to be really flexible with their prices which is awesome.  I'm just slightly nervous because I can't find any reviews & they don't do weddings every weekend so I'm afraid of things going wrong the day of.  Any reviews or suggestions would be appreciated!

My fiance and I looked there and liked it. However, it seemed pretty pricey to rent out the entire place, and we didn't like the idea of having strangers there, who weren't part of the wedding, bowling in the lane next to us. But if you could afford to get the entire place, I think it's a really cute and unique idea!

Lack of reviews may be because that location is relatively new....check out reviews for the Northbrook location; find the business profile and see if there is any connection between the owners.  That may at least give you a starting point, or allow you to read what others, that may have used the Northbrook venue, have to say about the overall experience and choice.

I agree about the "strangers" factor; we looked at the Onion Pub and Brewery in Barrington and really liked the venue but were "turned off" by the fact that the restaurant would still be open to the public.  We worried how the chefs and barstaff would "divide" their time between the public and private event.

    Hope that helps a little.

My sister is having her wedding at Pinstripes in Northbrook. They were SUPER flexible on price, they told her a minimum in the beginning when they booked and then my sister ended up negotiating no minimum. They are renting out the whole one side for bowling late night (they put up like a divider) so you have your own section. They block off the bacci court and the outdoor area during cocktails, so really, there isn't a ton of interaction with strangers. I would say just about as much as if you go to a hotel where they do more than one wedding...The whole reception is in a private room, upstairs.

I went to their food tasting, it was amazing. I was really really surprised at how good the food is. I can give you a full report after Sept 4th when they have their wedding, although that is a while a way:)

    Thanks ladies!

We would not be renting out the entire space but the reception would be upstairs where it would be private.  We're mostly likely having the wedding on Sept 4, 2011 which is the Sunday of Labor Day weekend.  Since it's a Sunday the place will close at 11 but the event planner said they would stay open for us so we would have all of the bowling to ourselves up until 1 AM.

Mobkaz- I will look up reviews from northbrook.  Great suggestion thanks!

Sgylling-I'd love to hear how your sister's wedding goes even though its a ways a way. I agree, the food is great!  Do you know how many people she is having?  We're thinking we'll have about 180 & even though they say they can seat 200 with a dance floor I'm nervous that will be tight.

    Thanks again!

Hers is Sept 4th, 2010! :)It is a Saturday though. She is actually only having like 125ish? If you invite 180, you will probably have less, which should be ok. 200 would be pushing it, I agree. I will let you know how everything goes!! I think it will be really fun with all the games and such:)

We're using the Northbrook location for our 'at home reception' (we're having a DW this Saturday in the Dominican Republic) in July.  We rented out the outside space and the two outdoor bocce ball courts.  We will be doing food stations and passed appetizers.  It is a BEAUTIFUL space.

I looked at pinstripes just this past weekend.. the space is really nice. We will probably be having about 150-175 people. I dont see anywhere a dance floor would fit in the upstairs reception room.
