Gym shoes or comfortable shoes under wedding dress?

Its going to be a long day for me and was wondering your thoughts and opinions on wearing comfortable shoes under the dress?  No one will be able to see them!

That's what I'm doing!  I'm not about to be uncomfortable and in pain just so I can say I wore "the right" shoes on my wedding day.  And if people don't like it, oh well.

Nice! I really needed that reassurance!  Thanks!

I definitely think you can find some cute comfortable shoes long as they are good quality.  There are plenty of flats that would look good!  I personally would stay away from gym shoes though.

i'd suggest flats as well...there are numerous pics where you can see my shoes...i wore very low heels and was comfortable all night....i think as long as you're not in 3 inch heels you'll be ok.

I wouldn't be caught dead in gym shoes under my wedding dress. Seriously? That sounds so unattractive and lazy.

Honestly, you are putting this much effort into one day, you should be able to find a pair of attractive, comfortable shoes that are not worn to the gym. Ballet flats, low heels, sandals all sound much better than gym shoes.

If that's what you want go for it!! If you want gym shoes think about getting a new pair and decorating them with ribbon or rhinestones or something fun!

I would like to wear flats but there is too much of a height difference between me and the FI. So I'll be wearing heals so I can kiss him without being being on my toes.

I agree with the pps who said that you can find a pair of flats or even low heels to wear on your wedding day.   I got my shoes from dsw.com but I researched the brand and style in terms of what people who had previously bought them thought about their comfort level.  It took a little bit of time but it was worth it because there will be pictures taken that day that show the shoes.  I think that maybe for later in the night, once the dancing starts, people tend to take off their shoes or put on comfy sandals or boots, but as far as all day long, I think you can find some fancy shoes that you can wear for most of the day.  Good luck with it!

Wear whatever you want.  I purchased a pair of low heels for the ceremony and formal pictures and after dinner I threw on my black and white Adias sandals.  I was comfortable and honestly, my sandals showed up in two pictures.  I probably wouldn't have considered wearing them for the ceremony but if that's what you want I'd say go for it!

I find it more lazy and unattractive to decide halfway into the night that the shoes you picked aren't comfortable and then run around in your bare feet (which I've seen many brides do).

I'm sure you can find a comfortable pair of white gym shoes that would be fine.

I'm totally changing my shoes after the first couple "traditional dances".  I bought Chuck Taylor (Converse) low tops, that I designed myself.  They are in our wedding colors, and I was even able to add my new name "Mrs....." to be printed on the side of the shoe in cursive.  I absolutely LOVE them, and cannot wait to show them off.  I'm in Chuck's every day of the week, so it seems fitting to me to wear them on our Wedding Day.

I say... it's YOUR day, do what YOU want!!

I wore heels for the ceremony, pictures, and our dances then switched out to a pair of purple satin flats that matched our wedding colors.  My purple shoes do show in several pictures and I did have several guests comment on how cute the purple shoes were so they don't go unnoticed.  I honestly think you will regret it if you wear just plain ole gym shoes.  Find something comfy and cute to go with your beautiful dress!

I put a lot of time and effort into my wedding as well, but as soon as the ceremony was over, inside of the church! I put on the green chuck taylors i ordered specifically for that day.  I say go with your personality even if it's not what everyone else "expects" you to do.  I paid the bills so I did it the way I wanted to do it. :)

I love gym shoes but I think for such a big event I would really suggest low heels or flats.  But, it is your wedding and if you want to wear gym shoes, you wear your gym shoes Wink.  It shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks.

I wore a pair of Touch-Ups ballet flats and was comfortable the entire night!  I was so glad I didn't wear heals.  I was a BM in my cousin's wedding back in October and I wore the same shoes (the dress was floor length), that's how comfortable they are!
