Has anyone donated their wedding dress to a local charity? I don't really want to pay to ship my dress to Florida for Brides Against Breast Cancer and I don't know that Glass Slipper does wedding dresses (mine is definitely a wedding dress and not a white prom dress). And I really don't see a reason to keep my dress.

My mother in law called me about that place the other day, did they have a good selection? I don't want to spend too much on my dress but I want something that looks nice, sparkle beading, and not just something plain? How was your experience there?
[QUOTE]You can donate your dress at House of Hope Resale in downtown Barrington. They accept wedding dresses from nearby bridal salons, and I'm sure they accept individual donations as well. It's where I actually bought my wedding dress for $50. All proceeds go to local charity that helps families in need.

<div>Had a super great experience! They had about 150 dresses when I went last June. All the dresses are in their own area in the store, which also serves as the fitting room, with a full length mirror to boot. The dresses are sorted by size, which is very convenient. The dresses are in great condition, although you may run into a couple stained ones. The ladies there were also super helpful.</div><div>
</div><div>I only went to check it out because I was curious (and basically in disbelief) after a coworker told me about the $50 dresses. I dragged my sister with me on an early Saturday morning and she helped me into 7 different dresses. I ended up going home with a gorgeous A line satin beaded gown for a whopping $53 (tax included, ha!). I'm pretty sure the dress has never been worn either because it still had a price tag from Wedding Belles in Barrington.</div><div>
</div><div>I'd highly recommend checking it out, especially if you don't want to spend so much on a dress. Google or call the place first though, because I remember them having really odd hours. GL!</div>

<div>You're welcome! I also plan on donating my dress back to them after my September wedding. I don't find a need to keep it either.</div>
