Opinions: Rice Krispies Wedding Cake

I'm thinking of doing this. What do you guys think? We aren't big cake people.

I LOVE it! It's unexpected, tasty, and everyone will think it's awesome. I guarentee it'll be a hit with your guests.

We aren't big cake people either, so we are doing an icecream sundae bar.

I've seen a few ladies on the DIY board do rice crispie cakes a while ago and I think it's a really cute idea. I looooove rice crispies! It's so fun and unexpected. However, you may want to consider having a dessert of some sort for those guests who love their chocolately sweet desserts.

We are also not cake people and are doing pies instead. I love it, I saw a similiar picture but it was for a square rice krispie cake with ribboned fondant around each tier. It was really pretty!

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE it.  I'd take some home and run.  That is awesome.  Get some chocolate sauce to spread on it too!
It's time. Adoption saving and process started in November 2012.

it would be amazing with chocolate sauce!  lol

i totally don't mean to be a downer, but just one thing to keep in mind, depending on your guests, some may not be able to eat a rice crispy cake because of the marshmallows.  a lot of vegetarians and people who follow some rules of keeping kosher don't eat marshmallows because of the gelatin.

^^ Wouldn't you think that if they are keeping kosher or are vegetarians that they would not be able to eat cake as well ?

    Just a thought.

As for the rice krispies cake, go for it! It's your wedding, do what you want! It's not every day where you can have a huge party specialized just for you and your most important other half. Smile

not necessarily...it's the gelatin in the marshmallows that's the problem.  most cakes are vegetarian (not vegan, though, b/c most have eggs or butter).   as far as people keeping kosher, it depends on their level of observance.  some people who don't mind mixing milk and meat still won't eat pork products.  even though they'll eat a cake that's not baked by a kosher bakery and contains dairy products, they may avoid gelatin until it's kosher gelatin.

not a reason not to do it...i just thought i'd point it out as something to think about, depending on the guest list.
