Southern Illinois or Northern Illinois?

My fiance and I currently live in northern Illinois, Joliet specifically, and we had originally planned on having the wedding here. My whole family lives in So. IL and his whole family lives in N. IL. However, things here are so much more expensive and much harder to work out with our under 10k budget. What do you ladies think? Do we cut everywhere possible and continue planning here or do we allow ourselves more flexibility in our budget and have it in So. IL?

do what you feel would make you most happy.  would you be happy if you cuts some things and got married near your current home? or would you be happier if you spent every last possible penny you could spend in southern Iilinois?

That's most of the issue lol. I'd rather not have to stretch my money. However, if we did it in So. IL, the guest list would be much larger (since my family is huge) due to people being closer to home and not having to travel. So, technically, we'd still be stretching it. Just in different areas. Idk Idk. I feel a long conversation coming with the FI.

I kinda went through the same thing, I'm from Northern Indiana and my entire family is still there, FI is from the NW burbs and I've been here with him for the past 6 years. This is my home, not my hometown. I am never planning on moving back to my hometown and I wanted to get married and start our life together in our home. I also want to be able to show my kids the church I'm getting married and Chicago is the start of our life together.
Are you planning on staying up here for awhile? Are you settleing down up here? If so, I would take that into consideration.  I'm sure wherever you guys did it, it will be gorgeous.
