HOB telling my MOH her dress will be a different color if ordered online?

Ok so this is weird to me.

I have 4 bridesmaids. 3 live here, one lives on the west coast. 2 of them ordered their dress at HOB. My MOH was not with us and saw that it is cheaper online so she ordered it there. The saleslady told her the color would be different by a few shades. True or false?

I think it is just a scare tactic to make commission but then again maybe when a party's order is taken they are all cut from the same cloth or something? I don't know. I emailed Bill Levkoff asking about this but who knows if I will get a response back and if it will even tell me the truth.

What do you think? Have any of you heard this too?

I have heard of this. Basically, if you order dresses from a traditional BM dress designer (Bill Levkoff, Alfred ANgelo, etc.), bridal stores prefer that the order is taken together so the dresses are all cut from the same bolt of fabric. I guess not every bolt of fabric is exactly the same because of dying, etc.

I've heard (from a friend who was a BM) that she was in a bridal party who ordered dresses through various DB stores and some of the dress colors looked a little off even though they all ordered the same color.

It is best to order them all from the same store at the same time. This way, the order is placed literally all together and can be cut from the same cloth like PP said. I worked with HOB for my wedding and all of my girls went and got measured and the mass order was placed at once. They turned out great!!

I can't remember who I heard this from, but someone told me thats a myth nowadays since manufacturers have dye numbers and all the cloth is the same. They just want you to pay for your dress faster.

I personally wouldn't worry about it.

This is BS. With a designer like Bill Levkoff, you could find a better deal on the dress online, etc.  They are ust trying to get you to order all the dresses from them - which means they will most likely get you on alterations as well.

I had to buy a Bill Levkoff dress from a Texas boutique for a friend's weddng.  It was $150 more than I could have gotten it for online, and it was the most dreadful dress I've ever worn.  DONT let the bridal stores pull this crap!

I have heard the same thing as MrsMLRB, that it's not such an issue any more with modern technology. Personally I wouldn't worry about it.  In reality every dress looks a little different anyhow, since they fit each woman differently.

Also, given the bad business practices that HOB knowingly practices, I wouldn't trust a word out of their associates mouths. But thats just me.

I had someone tell me the same thing at Davids Bridal and HOB.
