Reception Venue Ideas in Northern Illinois/Southern Wisconsin

Hi All,
I am in the beginning stages of searching for a venue.  We have the church booked, but have only a few ideas for the reception.  We will probably be having around 200 guests, and we would like it to either be in a hotel, or in the vicinity of a hotel (using a shuttle bus, etc.).  I live in Northern Lake County, and am open to places in Lake County, McHenry County, and Southern Wisconsin (Kenosha, Racine, etc.).   Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated!!  Thanks so much!!!Smile

The areas you are considering offer a multitude of venues, each with different decors.  It would help if you could narrow down the list by either budget, atmosphere, all inclusive, or even season.  My daughter and I scoured NW Lake County, a bit of the Schaumburg area, and even a few places in the Lake Geneva/Kenosha areas.  I would be happy to share the places we explored, but knowing any of your preferences would help.

We haven't quite set a budget yet, but we are pretty open, as long as it's reasonable.  We are getting married in April of 2012.  So far, we are going to be calling Concorde Banquets in Kildeer and Marino's in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin.  As far as decor and atmosphere, I am also open to pretty much anything.  I don't need anything too fancy.  Having a hotel option is also very important.  We are looking to do open bar and a sit down meal, not buffet style.  I would just like our family and friends to enjoy themselves and be comfortable Smile

I am definitely new to the whole wedding planning thing and any advice or suggestions would help out and be greatly appreciated.

This is a very new and lovely venue in Kenosha.  I have heard that their prices are lower than venues in Illinois.

If you are considering The Concorde, which has a very pretty gazebo area, then I can also suggest:
The Arboretum Club in Buffalo Grove (has a courtesy relationship with 4 hotels that offer shuttle service), The Mackray in Barrington, Kemper Lakes in Long Grove, The Seasons of Long Grove, The Country Squire in Grayslake, and The Onion Pub and Brewery in Barrington.  We limited ourselves to a certain extent to venues wherein we would be the only wedding at the facility.

The Marriott in Lincolnshire is nice but can have multiple weddings simultaneously.  They have ballroom as well as tented venues---the tents book very quickly.  Popular venues that may host more than 1 wedding are The Stonegate and the Seville in the Schaumburg area.  Good luck!

Thanks so much for your suggestions!!  I have gone on the Strawberry Creek website, and we might check it out.  We made an appointment last night to go to Marino's on Saturday to see the place, so I'm pretty excited.  I'm definitely leaning more towards Wisconsin because I have noticed their prices are definitely lower.  Thanks again :)
