Vent

Ok so FI and I are getting to the point that we absolutely have to finalize the guest list before we send out STDs. Our list is currently 213 and our reception venue holds an absolute max of 180 like she warned us it would be tight at 180. So understandably I'm getting nervous about that plus I've always wanted a smaller wedding like around 160. Since we each have about 80 for family and family friends that must be invited we agreed to make our friends lists pretty short. Well I was looking at the list today trying to figure who we can cut and I notice that he has 47 friends on his side of the list!!! I have 14, 6 of whom have to be invited because they're BMs, or readers, or ushers! Only 2 of his 47 are in the WP. I've been asking him for weeks to try to cut down his list and he won't! It's very frustrating!

 For some reason guys can't wrap their heads around the importance of the numbers. And they think everyone is way too important to cut.

Maybe just cut to the chase and say, "I need you to eliminate x number of people from the list by Friday." Maybe if he realizes he's up against a deadline and has an exact number, it might help him be more proactive.

Sometimes if you calculate the per person cost, men can get a better idea of the costs. This is not cost per plate, the per person is venue, plate, and bar.
For our wedding it was total of 72 per person. That made it easy for me to CUT.

Of course if your parents are paying, my theory may go out the window.

It is very dangerous to invite more people than your room can accomodate.

Who will not be seated if there are too many people????
