Need to find a bakery for wedding cake...

I am looking for a bakery that will let me design my cake and we are looking to feed 200 people on a $600 budget. We are looking to do maybe a 3 tier and sheet cakes for the rest.. Does anybody have a baker that fit what I need? Also any ideas/pictures for a grooms cake for a sports and video game addict?

I don't know where in the Chicagoland area you are... my cake came with my reception hall package, but they work with a bakery in Mt. Prospect- Continental Bakery.

Everyone raved about the cake... and they made it look just like I wanted!

Since it was part of my hall package, I don't know the price- but it might be worth looking into. :)

Aracely's in Franklin Park. They have multiple locations however that's the one they do the consultations from.
They are affordable.  They can do big things but they are still a small town bakery.
We've had friends get wedding cakes from there.  But we also signed our contract and did our tasting the other day.

I recommend Rolf's Patisserie in Linconwood. The tasting presentation was an experience we won't forget. We tried 8 different cakes and 25 different fillings. They were wonderful to work with!

I recommend Vanille Patisserie - they also soecialize in groom's cakes.  We got many compliments on how good the cake tasted.  The tasting was very convenient since they made "mini cakes" for us to take home and try versus eating samples at their location.

I also got a sheet cake to add to our original three tier cake so they were able to accommodate that request.

Ah yes, for grooms cake I recommend the following baker: http://www.justdessertsbysusan.blogspot.com/

Susan did a fantastic job with ours! My husband loves to fish, so we did a fishing theme.

ith our grooms cake. It was cake boss style!

central continental came with our package but we opted not to use them because they charged a lot for a tasting and that was a deal breaker.

we are using the baking institute in wheeling and they are $2 a person

We're using Rolf's too.  Its included in our package at The Glen Club.  So far, they have been a dream to work with!  Yummy cake and stuff too!
