Best place to browse flower girl dresses?

Hi all-

I'm a former knottie, now married almost 4 years with two beautiful little girls. My sister is getting married in September, and my older DD will be one of her flower girls (DD will be 3.5 years old, my FBIL's niece is the other FG, she'll be 6, I think). I am the only attendant, and my sister told me to "pick whatever dress you want"-- freeing, but also somewhat overwhelming.

I figure I can always find something for myself.....not too too worried about that. I'd really like to do some shopping for DD. Where have you all seen good selections of FG dresses in a reasonable price range lately? I live in the city (near north), and grew up in the western suburbs, so either of those locations is easy for me to get to (we go out to the burbs to see Grandma and Grandpa). The mother of the other FG is going to look at some boutiques where they live, but I'd like to do some browsing too....it's not every day that you can justify dressing up your little girl to look like a real princess =)

Thanks!!

  • Honestly, because spring is just around the corner, I wouldn't look much farther than the nicer department stores such as Macy's, Nordstrom's, or Bloomingdale. Between Easter and First Communion, most stores will carry a large selection of FG-ish dresses right off the rack.

These stores, as well as smaller stores like JCrew, carry "official" FG dresses in their wedding lines.

  • There is a place in Spring Hill Mall in West Dundee called Kidco.....my MOH purchased her 2 FG and 2 RB outfits there all for under $200.

<div>Agree with this -- there will be first communion/Easter dresses everywhere in about a month or so, I would wait and buy something off the rack. Even stores like Kohl's, JC Penny, etc. will have nice FG-ish dresses for a great price.</div>

  • I was looking for my niece's first communion dress and went into a store on Chicago Avenue between Ashland and Damen.  Oh my goodness was there a ton of selection and CHEAP!  I got her dress for $20.  It was a fun experience and if I was having a flower girl, I'd definitely start there to look to see.  And I agree, wait for Easter as there will be a lot of great dresses then too!

<div>I agree with this.  I bought a really cute little white dress for my FG around Easter time at Target.  It was only $20 (I'm sure I could have gotten it cheaper if I waited after Easter for a sale), and it looked just like one I had found at a bridal store for $75.  </div>
