merrimens wedding april 2013

I'm really considering getting married at merrimens in maui sometime in April of 2013. Any suggestions or reviews at all? We are planning for about only 15 guests...

Re: merrimens wedding april 2013

  • We are getting married there in November of this year. So far the wedding coordinator has been great, she has been fast to respond. Good luck with the planning! Have you contacted them yet?
  • We are having our reception there in May - I will post up my review after. So far so good! We are only having 12 people and have rented out the private cabana. The wedding is 2 months from tomorrow - so excited!
  • Excited to see your pictures mauigirl :)
  • We are having our reception there as well in about 3 weeks. We also rented out the cabana for our group of 13 (I think she said it fits 18 max). Danielle is always quick to respond to my messages and constant questions. Having such a small group we can just order off the regular menu which is nice because everyone has such different tastes. And they have live music inside everynight.

  • Wow congrats everyone! I just joined the knot so I'm still tryin to figure everything out...couple questions: 1 Does anyone know where the cabana is located? Can u view the ocean from it? 2 would they book 2 weddings at the same time? I'm worried someone might buyout the place while I'm outside in the cabana.... 3 I have never been to Hawaii..any suggestions on how/where/when to finds airline deals? 4 looking around to find an inexpensive but nice hotels near by for the family....any suggestions? I'm sooooo excited to see all of your pics from your wedding at merrimens...so glad I joined the club!
  • You can view the ocean from the cabana. They do have multiple weddings and it is a possibility they could have a buy out in the main restaurant while you are in the cabana.

Royal Lahaina is nice and affordable in Kaanapali - maybe others have some recommendations.

Airlines- My suggestion is start looking on travel search engines (orbitz, kayak, etc.) Alaska Air has good deals on direct flights depending on where you are flying from.
  • Hi!! I am also having my ceremony/reception at Merriman's in October 2012. We have reserved the cabana for the reception, and I really have not found any good photos of its location..just assumed it's an awesome view from the reviews I have read. We will be staying at the Kapalua Ridge Villas, which is in the same resort at Merriman's. I hear it's only about 2 mins away, and I really wanted to stay somewhere close to the venue.. not sure where to have my guests (if any) stay. We have such a small party, and the villas will only provide a wedding group discount if you block out a min of 10 rooms. I am also interested to know what others are doing?
  • I can provide suggestions for #3 and #4... #3 (Airline deals): My favorite website to look for flights in bing.com/travel only because it has a price predictor. However, it only predicts prices from airports that are more popular. But input your flight itinerary and see what comes up. Also, I suggest subscribing to Beat of Hawaii. I get e-mails every so often about flight deals, hotel deals, sometimes random, but helpful information on Hawaii. For example, I received an email about some Hawaiian stamps that were going to be released by the post office, and we hadn't sent our save-the-dates, yet! #4 (Hotels/lodging): I agree with a PP about staying at the Royal Lahaina. I also suggested it as a more budget-friendly option to the room block we have at the Hyatt. However, when I travel, I try to stay at vacation rentals, which I think are the best. Depending on the rental, you get a kitchen, washer dryer, parking, etc. I like to use http://www.vrbo.com Hope those suggestions help!

They DO NOT book 2 weddings the same day at all. This was my first and biggest question and Danielle stated that it only happens if she asks the other bride that booked first and if she's ok with it. Otherwise, just 1 per day. I've been booked for 3 months and it hasn't come up at all. I think it's only if she's pushed to ask, otherwise it's off limits if you booked first. Hope this helps.

INteresting. We asked the same things and I was not given this answer.

I wasn't told this either as I was we may have to upgrade from cabana to the lanai depending on how many guests will will have confirmed.

In regards to accommodations, I have stayed at the Royal Lahaina and it is beautiful. Just don't stay in the cottages! The cottages could definitely use an upgrade. However, for our stay on the island we have decided to stay at the Sheraton.

Has anyone planned a candy buffet there with her? She seems so nice. I have no idea where she finds the time to answer questions so quickly either. Anyone renting out the deck and if so, what ideas there are for outside decorations? I'm a closet artsy craftsy girl. Love doing them.

[QUOTE]I am getting married there Aug 2012 and I can't wait. There coordinator Danielle has been fantastic. Everything I have wanted has been worked out. We are getting married on the lawn and having the reception in the cabana. We will have roughly 20-25 guests. Good luck planning. I don't think you'll regret it, it looks like a beautiful place and I can't wait to go.

I am also having my wedding at Merriman's and was wondering if you knew if the cabana could accommodate 25 guests or if you were planning to move to the Lanai.

I appreciate your help! • Hi all,
We're having our wedding at Merriman's in August 2013. We were originally just going to have 20-22 people and I was told that 20 is the absolute max the cabana could hold so we had to go with the private dining room.

Would love to hear others' experiences.
