Hello!  I just thought I would get in touch with you since you are from AK and using the same caterer we did!  If you have any questions at all, please let me know.  We planned everything from here in AK and had a wonderful experience.  Just thought I would extend a hand in case you had any questions for my fellow AK girl! 

We were married July 5, 2011 at Olowalu with FFTS catering!  It was perfection!

How crazy! great minds think alike what part of alaska are you from? I am living in Europe right now and planning it from here has been difficult with the 12 hour time difference. I do have a couple questions. 

About how many people came to your wedding?

What did you have your groomsmen wear? I feel like its a casual wedding, but i do love the way suits look. 

Where did you stay? Donna from Olowalu, said they work with the royal lahaina on room rates, but i havn't reserved them yet.  Is that the best way to go? Or let everyone figure their own places out?

Did you have a tent? I know its July, but rain is a big fear of mine....both times i went to Hawaii (not in July) it always rained at night!

Yay, I always love to meet Alaskans on here, how exciting that you are living in Europe - is your fiance from there?   I am in Anchorage right now, but live in Palmer.  What area are you from?   Super excited that you have booked FFTS, you will not be disappointed, they are fantastic and as you know already Tina is so sweet and amazingly organized. 

Anyway, onto your questions, let me know if you have any more! 

About how many people came to your wedding?  

We had 49 people from all over the US join us in Maui, it was really a cool experience - I had never been on a group vacation before and it was great!

My husband and his guys wore black suits that we rented from Ellie's Formalwear in Kihei.  I didn't want the casual look cause it is a wedding, but I didn't want to go full tux either.  Once the ceremony was done they all took off their jackets and were fine heat wise for the rest of the day.

I would definitely let everyone figure out their own lodging, you will have enough to think about without worrying about that.  We actually go to Maui quite a bit and we always stay at Kamaole Sands in Kihei and book through VRBO.com  The condos are beautiful and very, very reasonable (we had some of our guests staying in a condo for less than $100/night).  We just shared our condo information as well as the website and everyone found something that worked for them and their budget. 

Did you have a tent: 


Yes, we did but it was not necessary. When I first started planning  I hated, hated the location if you wanted to have a tent and refused to have one until Olowalu started allowing the water barrel tents right by the dance floor.  We got a clear top tent and it was fantastic.  We could have done without it, but I felt like it really polished the look and made it seem more like a wedding than a bunch of people eating dinner on a lawn.
