Poll: #1 Priority

I read in a wedding mag somewhere to prioritize the importance of the elements of your wedding while deciding your budget. So, poll, from the below, what is the #1 priority for your wedding (in terms of wanting the best possible, etc.)?- photography &/or videography- reception food- dj, band, or other entertainment- flowers- overall reception decor- ceremony decor- dress & wedding party attire- cakeam I missing anything?

I'm not sure if i have a number 1 priority.  We didn't really splurge on anything, tried to find the best deals we could.  I did insist that we get a H&M person for me, my gals, and my moms.  That cost a pretty penny, but i want my BP and moms to feel special and beautiful.  SO that was important.

Definitely photography/videography. I've heard numerous times that this is the one area you don't skimp on. Your wedding day goes by so fast, so you want beautiful snap shots and video to remember all the details for the rest of your life. Funny though... I still haven't booked mine! Thank you for reminding me to get on that. ;)

Definitely Reception Decor. Photography next. I just want people to feel like they are in a magical place. :)The dress is the last thing I care about. I'm just not a girly girl.. so I'm almost dreading that part.

Definitely photographer!!  That is the only thing we splurged on..  We are using Chrissy Lambert who I am super excited about and have heard fabulous things of!!  YAYY!!!Coming in a close second would be DJ - because my belief is that they keep the party moving!!

I think we tied somewhere with photography and somehow finding a way to fit those bamboo canopies into our reception. There was a point where I just HAD to have them.

Our number 1 priorities from the get-go were photography, videography, & venue.  And these were probably the only things we splurged on. (oh!  and our wp gifts)  I really tried to keep costs low on everything else.

I'd have to say photography since it was a DW, and most of my family would be relying on photos to be there in spirit. If I had done a Chicago wedding, though, it totally would have been the music....an awesome jazz band!

I think photography is out biggest priority,,,but that doesn't mean I want to spend a fortune on it. We are going the DIY route with many things. I know we are going to have a nice wedding even if we don't spend lots and lots of money on it.

Photography was very important to me. But its a touch call whether that was #1 or venue/reception decor. I really wanted something by the beach with great landscaping/natural beauty so our location was a big deal (and was DH's top priority by far.  He wanted the venue we used - The Aloha Pavillion at the Westin Maui - more than anything and said as long as we could have that place, he was fine with anything else! I love the venue too and I seriously can't imagine having gotten married anywhere else so it was totally worth making that a priority. The photos are whats going to last forever though and show all the little details and help us remember our beautiful venue so I didn't want to skimp on that at all either. Those two were pretty much a tie and everything else we were really careful budgeting on and did a lot of DIY projects to save money so we could put more towards the priorities. I think its definitely a good idea to figure out 1-2 areas you want to splurge on and then keep that in mind when figuring out your budget.

First it started as location being the priority then once I picked Maui it became photography/videography, DJ and food. Photography/videography for lasting memories and DJ and food to have a memorable party! But overall reception decor is definitely very close too!

For me, it was the reception. We wanted it with a view and with good food. And I cared more about how good the cake would taste rather than how professionally decorated it is. Photography and videography was pretty important too (even though we skimped on it a bit by using friends and non-wedding videographers--but my top priority there was coverage, so we had 3 photographers and 2 videographers)

1 - Tied between location (Maui!) and having our closest friends and family there for the wedding.2. Reception food.Lowest priority - flowers, reception decor and ceremony decor.

My number one is venue/location - since it's Hawaii, we had to be outside near the beach. Strong second is the reception food & drink. We hope everyone (including FI and I) will have more than their fill of good times with good food :)

Definitely photography and videography.   After we got our pictures and DVD, we were like...ohhhh....I didn't notice that!  The day went by so quickly, so it was nice to see and watch everything after the fact. Our other priorities were location because I wanted something dramatic and beautiful (main reason for getting married in Hawaii) and good food!

For me, it was the photography and venue. For him, it was food and overall cost. He doesn't care where we have it, but he insists it shouldn't cost above a certain price point. Now, we're fighting over reconcialing the two parts. I want something that will sit well as far as decor/floor plan goes, and he doesn't want to pay a lot. We might have it figured out. (Did anyone else talk about MONEY being the first priority?)
