Anyone doing a candy buffet?

FI and I are doing a candy buffet for our wedding. I haven't seen it done too much here in Hawaii and I hope my guests really like it! We are planning on purchasing green and blue candies...our color theme. If you are doing a candy buffet where are you getting your candy from? Thanks!!

I don't know if we're doing one, but they are adorable. I've seen so many cute pictures of various set-ups, they look so fun! I would think Costco would be a good place to get candy in bulk...?

Hey Liz! I did check Costco and only type candy they had that we will be using is the Macadamia Nut Hershey Kisses. But with Halloween being just around the corner I think they will have a better variety of candy in stock. I just hate to purchase tons of candy from the mainland and have it shipped here...shipping is so expensive!

Try checking out Party City. They may have something you can work with. Or maybe you could order some bulk candy through them? Check out their website and search for "candy" to see what they have posted. http://www.partycity.com/index.shtml

Great point about Halloween! And after Halloween they will probably slash the price at places like Walgreen, Target, etc!

Ya, wholesale unlimited is good - or you could spurge on some of the candy and get some from sweet factory - like splurge and get all green and blue jelly beans. More expensive, but probably worth it for the overall effect. My cousin did M&Ms in her wedding colors that she just bought at one of those types of candy stores and it looked great...

I'm doing a dessert buffet but was planning on adding M&Ms to the table in our wedding colors. I have seen them at Party City or they can be ordered from the M&M website. I haven't really figured out yet the logistics of how to order them and get them shipped to HI or to bring them with me when I go. I'm sure your guests will LOVE the buffet so definitely do it!

Oh hmm, maybe there is not a Sweet Factory, but there used to be some Sweet Factory-like place in Pearl Ridge that I always used to get candy from before the movies, but maybe it wasn't called Sweet Factory... and maybe it's not even there anymore... :-p

Hi Shannon! We had a candy buffet at our wedding and our guests LOVED it! It was pretty funny to see everyone get so excited about being able to make their own favors with their favorite candies. We were also concerned about buying candy from the mainland. Besides worrying about melting issues, as I'm sure you're already aware of...the cost for shipping anything here is so crazy expensive! We also got married right after Halloween and scored on amazing prices. We were pretty diligent about checking the week before, on Halloween day and the day right after to get the best choices. We cleaned up at WalMart and Safeway...some candies were 75% off! :)

btw...although we wanted to use candy in our wedding colors, we ended up using a variety since it meant us saving a lot of $. we just used ribbon and labels in our colors to tie it back to our wedding theme. Hi Shannon, Thanks for posting your comment. I am also throwing the idea around about having a candy buffet at my wedding; but I don't know where to begin. I kinda want to do it myself to cut cost. I am so glad to hear that your color theme is blue and green. That is mine also. I thought I was the only one with that unusual color scheme. Let me know how it comes out. Best wishes on your planning and wedding.
