Lei and Veil Question

Hi Ladies!Need an opinion.  Was thinking of doing a lei exchange, butit seems brides don't wear a long veil (so lei can go under - usually birdcage) or none at all.  And if you wear a long veil, then no lei exchange.Do you think it would be weird to have a long veil and have a lei exchange.  But for the bride, have the lei be un-assembled like an open necklace, with ribbon at the ends, and having the groom tie the ribbon?Thank you for your advice!

Ooooh.....good idea about tying it! This something I neglected to think about, unfortunately. Although it was a pretty funny moment when we had to pull my veil through the lei! My veil was fingertip length, and it worked out fine. I just wished I had told my MOH about this ahead of time, 'cause she wasn't paying attention, and I needed help getting the veil through. Once she noticed, though, we got it through and it was fine. I say go for it, as long as it's not a cathedral length veil. And ask about making it tie-able.....I really like that idea.

I had a SUPER LONG veil and still did the lei exchange!  :)I did ask my WC about an open lei with ribbons so that we could tie it together but she suggested against it (I forget what her reason were).  Just have your MOH or FI gently pull the veil through the lei.  It's really not difficult as long as they know to help you.  My veil was so long that so many ppl have pics of me laughing while my MOH was trying to pull the veil thorugh... but the pics were great!  haha!  Do whatever feels comfortable for you but just know that it really isn't as big a deal as one would think to just pull the veil through.  :)

Okay....so now another worry lol.  I've been debating the whole veil thing concerned about the wind blowing it all over my face and had not even thought aobut the lei exchange.

I was going to do a veil but opted out of one recently because of both the lei exchange and the whole wind, and stickiness thing. Most brides I have talked to said the veil is such a pain in the rear and if it is even a tad bit sticy outside the material sticks to you and wrinkles very easy, so in my opinion the veil is not worth it, but of course every bride is different!!

I wore a veil and we did the lei exchange, but just with the mothers.  DH & I wore our leis to the ceremony.  During the lei exchange, I put a lei on his mom & then he put one on my mom.  It worked our really well & I really wanted a veil and was concerned about pulling the veil through the lei.
