Ganache?

My sweet FI wants a chocolate frosting and chocolate cake (the one thing he is adamant about, grrr).  I have never seen a brown wedding cake before...I know they exist.  Is my only option ganache frosting?  Is ganache any good vs. buttercream?  I could ask the baker for the Seawatch but he is not very helpful...

Taste wise, IMO, ganache is the best! It's basically whipping cream & chocolate (nom). Buttercream is whipped butter, sugar, chocolate and tends to be a bit sweeter. Fondant is rolled sugar paste that isn't very tasty, and is generally used for design.

i think ganache tastes waayyyyy better!!! It is more rich and buttercream is more sweet. Ganache will give you a shinier finish than buttercream and fondant as well.
