walking down the aisle music

this is one detail i haven't even thought of! we were originally going to have my brother play the guitar, but he's a groomsman, so that's out... what music is/did everyone play during the processional part of the ceremony? i know for sure i do not want the "here comes the bride" tune...but i'm not sure where to even start...

If you want to go the hawaiian music route, we used Mele A Ka Pu'uwau & Maunaleo both by Keali Reichel.  I also loved E O Mai by Keali'i (I couldn;t decide between this one or Maunaleo for my entrance so I incorporated it somewhere else in the ceremony)

oh yeah! FI listens to kealii reichel..it's very soft and romantic... good idea. We like "kawapunahele"...But we also love this one song by the plain white ts called 1,2,3,4, i'm just not sure if it's too fast to walk down the aisle in. Also, Does the bride always have to have a different song ? i notice in the weddings i've been to, they always play a different song for the bride's walk.

Hi Hannah!  We only used 1 song (Canon in D) for our entire processional--both for the wedding party and for my entrance.  It worked out just fine with our song choice.Maybe you could do Keali'i Reichel for your processional and the more upbeat Plain White Ts song for your recessional (unless you've already settled on a recessional song).BTW, have you heard from Rev. Smoot yet?  The last name of the guy who sits in the cubicle next to me is Smoot.  I'm going to ask him if they're related...that's not a very common name.

I used Fix You covered by the Vitamin String Quartet on our ipod.

Ooooh Hannah!  I LOVE Kawaipunahele!  That was definitely another contender!  It was prob my fave Keali'i song for the longest time!Ditto Nicole!  We also had a fast upbeat song for the recessional, Love by Matt White.I don't know if brides necessarily have to have a different song but we had such a huge WP; and since we were having Jamie sing the songs and not just playing instrumentals (i.e.Canon in D) it just made sense to have 2 different songs than to repeat one song twice.

This is all still totally up in the air, but I've been thinking Maunaleo for the BP, Canon in D for me (but the sped up version like what I've seen on youtube - dunno if it can be done on guitar sped up, but I *love* it), then something fun when we walk out together. I like the idea of mixing in some Hawaiian music, with something traditional, with something that really reflects FI and I - so long as I can do it in a way that's not all a big jumble.

I'm really bad at being traditional lol. So as guest were seated and waiting Hawaiian songs were playing. Then the bridal party walked down the aisle to Maxwell's "Whenever,Whatever,Whereveer" I walked down the ailse to "Like a Star" By Corinne Bailey Rae. Then after the ceremony as we walked down the aisle "For once in my life " By Stevie Wonder played. I'm such a stevie lover lol

tifani- our wedding is beach front and we're just planning on playing a CD on a boom box....since we don't want to splurge on live music either. The waves and wind can muffle out the music though, so I'm a little concerned on how it will all sound. But at least we got the music down...Thanks to all your suggestions ladies! We are going with the Keali'i song which is slower, for the processional (it's about 4 minutes long...) and the more upbeat Plain white Ts song for after (which is like 3 1/2 minutes)....

My FI's sister had a groomsman play guitar at the ceremony. It was pretty cool. He actually walked down the aisle playing it. FI and I decided we are going to have the Muppets take Manhattan song "Somebody's getting Married" song, except we only want the slow part where Miss Piggy and Kermit are walking down the aisle. Its one of our childhood favorites. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0P5FzSe3qwWe have an ukulele and guitar player at our wedding. :)
