I will be expecting around 40-50 guests, I am on a budget due to this dang economy :( and I would loooooovee a sunset wedding on the beach! If thats out of my league then someone please slap me back to reality! I look forward to hearing from all the soon to be's and the lucky mrs.

welcome to the board! where in oahu are you looking at ? If you want a sunset wedding, i'd suggest an afternoon/early evening ceremony on the west (leeward) side of Oahu...or Sunset Beach in the North Shore if you want something more intimate.... Good luck and hope this board is as much help to you as it has been to so many of us :) the girls on the HI board are AWESOME!

Welcome! I too wanted a sunset wedding. My photographer talked us into a sunrise wedding on the windward side (Waimanalo Beach) because the sun is much softer and not so bright in your eyes. We are pretty stoked about it. :) You can check out some pictures on his site if you want. www.hawaii-weddings.com. Click on Gallery and then Jason & Shaylah's sunrise wedding. Those are the pics that made us go that direction.

I can't help with Oahu at all, but welcome to the board! I think a sunset ceremony is doable but perhaps tricky with a group that large. You won't be able to use chairs or set-up on the beach, you know? So, if you have guests that have mobility issues and need chairs, this might be a problem. As for the sunrise/sunset photography - definitely check out different photogs. I understand perennial favourite Shawn Starr won't do morning sessions because he doesn't like the light then.

Welcome welcome!!! Don't be overwhelmed, you have soooo much time to plan. Trust me! Especially if you're going to be knotting with us over here on the Hawaii board, you have nothing to worrk about :) I'm getting married in Maui but my photographer (Shawn Starr) and my videographer (Studio Red) are from Oahu. Their work is so fabulous that we're flying them over to do our wedding, so you should definitely check them out. I hear you on the economy card, money is tight right now! But...there are ways to cut corners so it's definitely doable.

Hey Tiffany, welcome from a fellow Tifani!!!! I know a lil different in the spelling. I think budget friendly weddings are super doable in Hawaii, there is such a wealth of info on this board, I am sure you will have no problem.....Look into some package deals, they are usually more budget friendly but not always. I would say after planning a wedding in hawaii, research is your best friend, research everything, get multiple quotes and ask if they can do a better deal for you, it works i swear!!!! I am also a Maui bride so I don't have too much info in the way of Ohau, but there are plenty of Ohau brides on here! Check out some of the ladies bio's, you can usually click the link next to their signature once they ahve posted.....there are great great great ideas on them!!!!

Welcome, and have fun planning!  This board has tons of resources.  Yeah, like kaesha said, if you want the ceremony in the sand, you will not be able to have chairs or arches.  However, the Hawaii state government permit you will need does allow for chairs for those who are not able to stand... at least that's what I remember reading. I have links to beach wedding stuff (permit, insurance- required, etc.) in my bio. Also consider having a sunset wedding at a place with an ocean view but not on the sand.  Then you don't have to worry about the chairs.Have fun!
