I know there was a bride on here a little while ago asking about Mike Nelson. I just wanted to give her (and anyone else considering him) a heads up about him. I had asked him if we would be able to use our own vows and add an engagement ring blessing (which it 2 sentences) to our ceremony to make it a little more personal. He sent me an e-mail saying that due to scheduling conflicts he wouldn't be doing our wedding anymore. I talked to my WC and she said he backed out b/c he thought I was being too demanding. What made me mad was he pretty much lied about why he was backing out and didn't like the fact that I wanted to personalize our ceremony a little bit. I just wanted to throw that out there for anyone considering him.

    Hi Natalie!  I was the bride asking about him...thanks for sharing your experience.  I'll definitely take it into consideration!I hope everything works out okay for you.  I know it's probably stressful, but at least this came out before your wedding day...Have you found another officiant yet?  If so, may I ask who? Thanks!

    Definitely good that you found out he wasn't digging your relationship earlier rather than later! Can you imagine having a service performed by someone who was only halfheartedly doing it?

    Good riddance...you really want an officant who is flexiable and wants to make your ceremony special. Good knottie vibes in finding another officant. J. :-)

    Wow, sorry to hear that! You would think that an officiant would want to work WITH you to make your ceremony special. I hope that your WC can help you find someone else who is willing to do that.

    Rev. Kimo Taylor will be our officiate and my WC said he's more than willing to tweak the ceremony so it fits us. It stressed me out at first, but I don't want an officiate that's not willing to work with me to make my wedding day special and lie to me about why he backed out. Now I'm excited to have someone who wants our ceremony to be special and unique =)

    It is regrettable that Natalie and Aj had a negative experience with me as a possible reverend for their wedding.  I can say this, if I said I could not do their wedding I would not have to lie to not do it.  It is true that some ministers are not paired well with certian brides. I can't remember all of the detils of Natalie"s request but for me to decline to do their wedding, it would have required more then just a request to read two sentences over their rings.  I am glad they found someone they fit better with and had a happy wedding.  I hope that the joy of their wedding and marriage will carry them through for the rest of their lives.  God bless, Rev.
