Hawaii

hello! (and a rooming vent)

Hi all, my name is Sarah, my wedding is Dec 29th at the Bayer Estate on Oahu, and I've been lurking on the boards for the last few days but haven't felt the need to post until now. A real wrench is in our wedding plans. :[ FI is from Maine and his parents are Taiwanese. They're flying out his grandmother, aunt, and uncle from Taiwan, the father's business partners from Beijing, and another aunt and uncle from San Jose CA. In all, there are about 12 of them and not all of them speak English. Taking all this into account, we wanted to rent a house for them all and we were about to book one online, but this morning we got an email that the reservation had been cancelled, with no explanation! Everyone is all really bummed, and I have no idea where to go from here. There are 70 days to go and it is somewhat ridiculous trying to find rental houses for Christmas/New Years this late in the game. Does anyone have any recommendations for rental sites? I'm hoping to scoop up someplace that had a cancellation..I'm pretty sure that something will work out eventually but this is not what we hoped for.

It was Jetpad Homes. My mom is friends with the realtor who is working with the owner on selling the actual house, and when we got in touch with her this afternoon she only had bad things to say about the renting company/the man running the operation. Apparently a month ago they severed ties with him, but we booked in July when the relationship between the realtor and Jetpad was still new. Thank you jujubee and akbride! I will check out the sites you recommended. Actually we did see one place on another site whose rental was through Pacific Island Reservations and it looked promising. :] I am hopeful!

Welcome Sarah! You came ot the right place. The girls here are so helpful. I personally, don't know Oahu that well, but the website in the first reply is also what I would suggest. I am so sorry that this happened. The good thing is that you will still have time to find a great rental. And perhaps people will be getting desperate to rent theirs out for December so you'll get a better price?

My suggestion is you go on tripadvisor.com, on the Kauai forum. It is wonderful, post a message regarding what you want, and people will help you, guaranteed !
