Hale Koa

Does anyone have any info/pics on the Hale Koa as far as 1) traffic noise in the gardens 2) How good the food is (we're looking at the Hale Koa Royal Feast <luau type food>) 3) Service 4) If you're able to bring in your own rentals (chairs & linens)

Thanks girls!

i'll have to look if I have pics of previous weddings there...but if not you can look for photog blogs and see... i'll check though :)  The food there is really good. I haven't had the hale koa royal feast but we've tried the aloha buffet and the oriental buffet many times and guests are always happy.  I'm bringing in my own linens so i'm sure you could bring you own chairs too. :) hope this helps! :) i'll get back to you on the pics :)

You can check my bio for some general info and pics of the Hale Koa.  Our reception was a sit-down in the ballroom, but I've been to other weddings with buffets and in the Luau Garden.  Hale Koa is known for its buffets, and the food is pretty good.  Service is a little hit-or-miss...I've heard good and bad.  Noise in the garden was not a problem for me.  We brought in our own linens...I'm pretty sure you could bring in your own chairs too.  The catering office was great at answering all my questions and anticipating my needs.

Thanks ladies. Do you know if I need to have a minimum count to have my reception in the Luau Garden? I'm pretty set on having an outdoor reception, since our guests are traveling so far to go to Hawaii. If we're unable to have it at the Luau Garden, would it be weird to have the ceremony at Hale Koa and walk over to the Hilton to have the reception at one of their restaurants?

There is a minimum, but I can't remember what it is off-hand...maybe 200?  One of my friends got married in the DeRussy ballroom but ended up under the minimum count -- she just ordered more appetizers to make up the difference in cost.  If you are getting married during a slow time (winter or weekday), they may waive the minimum count for you.

You can still have the Luau buffet in one of their ballrooms.  Is there a reason you would rather go to one of the Hilton restaurants?  IMHO, the food and cost at Hale Koa is a much better deal.  Hilton has an outdoor garden too.  It would probably be easier to keep it all at one hotel.

    Hi Jaime,

Thanks for your reply. I would definitley want to keep everything at Hale Koa but am afraid that since my party is so small (up to 40 guests), they won't allow us to have our reception in the Luau Garden. I'm going to inquire if they will allow us to set up our reception in the Maile Garden and since it is off-season, if they will waive the minimum head counts or like your friend, let me order more food to count for the difference. I was just thinking of the Hilton in case they won't allow us to have an outdoor reception with our small party.

    Thanks for your help! :)

Hi there, we had our rehearsal dinner at the Hale koa and the biggest complaint was that the seafood was not cooked all the way.  I'm talking clear squid (calamari), shrimp, and scallops.  Other than that, it was OK.
