Maui's Favorites??

Aloha Ladies!

I am planning my destination wedding in Maui for May 2013. My fiance and I will be going to the island next week!! Smileto pick our venue ( eye on sugarman estate) and visit vendors. I am at the very early stages of my planning. If you ladies can give me any great tips I GREATLY appreciate it!!

Who are your favorite vendors and Venues?

THANK YOU!!

Re: Maui's Favorites??

  • On our last trip to Maui, we met with DJ's and bakers. We ended up choosing DJ Boomshot (Jay Langworthy) and hiring Cake Walk Bakery to do our cake and dessert bar. We had 3 cake tastings and met with 2 DJs.

Honestly, I didn't go to Sugarman Estate, and ended up choosing Olowalu before we had even gone to Maui. Very happy with my decision as the property is beautiful! The house itself is very vintage Hawaiian. Beautiful and simple, right on the water.

Hope that gives you an idea of where to start!

Congrats and happy planning! Have a great trip!

  • Ditto...with Diana...we had all the same vendors as well.  Olowalu absolutely freakin stunning...could not think of a more perfect place to get married.  DJ Boomshot was great...we had a lot of fun with him and him with us...albeit...i still find him on the expensive side so i would have to say it depends on how important music is to you.  The only complaint my husband had was that he did not start our intro song right from the beginning.  Cake Bakery...awesome...Heidi is great...we had a grooms cake for our welcome dinner and then a small cake…red velvet…that was suppose to sit on top of our cupcake tower...either too heavy or too many cupcakes...so it was on the table instead.  For music we did a duo...harp & violin...Celia Canty...she arranged for the violinist...Don Lax...there were both great.  When we went to Ferro's for dinner on our last night on Maui Don was performing there and played the song i walked down the aisle too...GREAT JOB...At Last by Etta James...may she rest in peace.  Aloha Events Catering made all of our delish food, Debbie from Pacific Events Group…did all of our décor…GORGEOUS…minus the up lighting…a must in my opinion…I think that was Pacific Isle Rentals.  If you are looking for a photo booth we got a good deal from Aloha Booth…Angelina was great and even took some photos of us and the décor…can never have two many.  My only problem…at the end of the night we were in a rush to leave so we forgot our photo strips on the table and for what ever reason she could not send us duplicates…she does however send you a CD/DVD in the mail.  Anthony J. Martinez…AWESOME…he took some great photos...this was THE hardest choose for me and I am SOOO happy with his work…just need to nag him about our high res photos and our still DVD like video.   One photo in particular really captured our moment and I ordered a print in canvas for my husband for Christmas…could not wait for our 1st year anniversary…lol.   My coordinator…Erica from Couture Events was FABULOUS…highly recommended!  She was a godsend!  And I almost forgot…Nicole from Bella Bloom did our beautiful floral arrangements...highly recommended.  HTH! • We are getting married at Mama's Fish House. I love everything about the place from the food to the location to the service. We are even getting our wedding cake through them. Best cake and dessert I've had on the island.

We are having our rehearsal dinner at Hali'imale General Store. For our c*ck n hen party we're doing the sunset dinner cruise with Pride of Maui and then going to South Shore Tiki Lounge afterwards. We are going to the Old Lahaina Luau with our guests after the wedding reception, too.

I have a ton of information on our blog, link below, with the planning trip we just took to Maui. If you have any questions, let me know.
  • We got married at Olowalu. Do check it out, it's on the West side near Lahaina. If you're heading that way from the east side of the island, watch for a fruit stand off to the side of the road. The driveway to Olowalu is directly across from that (you could call ahead and let them know you're coming to see it!)

Our vendors, which I would all highly recommend:
-Cafe O'Lei - you can call and do a full menu tasting with them at the restaurant
-Cakes by Joanne - you can do a cake tasting with her, she makes up these adorable yummy cupcakes with different flavors
    -DJ Randy from Ace Beats
-Stacey from Maui Bars R Us
-Della Peacock from Dellables for flowers
-Lori Lawrence from Tropical Maui Weddings for wedding coordination

    Have a fun trip!
