Bar services??

Did anyone use bar services for there wedding in maui?  Was it worth the cost?  Im not sure what to do about this, having 66 guests but 16 are kids and I don't drink so this is not an area I want to necc splurge on!!  Sample quote way more than what I had in mind at $1350 w/o alcohol...what to do!??

Re: Bar services??

  • Ours came with our caterer.  Our reception is at a private estate, so we are paying $160 per bartender.  We provide the liquor ourselves from Costco.  Liquor is a big deal to us, so we got 2, and will be providing special "hawaiin" drinks as specials...open donation bars.

  • I don't drink and pretty much my side of the family doesn't really drink, but FI's side does and our friends do, so the caterer is supplying a bartender and the glassware, and we're supplying the alcohol via costco.  :)
  • We used the drink services that our caterer offered.  While pricey, you are going to have to offer something to drink and the costs include glasses, ice, pop, juice, etc. - not just alcohol.  We paid $1200 for our drinks via the caterer and offered beer and wine. I thought it was worth it and we didn't have to run around to Costco trying to buy and return alcohol.

  • Our $160 per bartender (2) comes with their own table, ice, glasswear, straws...all that stuff.  We figure we will buy $600 in liquor/beer, another $100 or so in mixes.  Costco is beside the airport, so no problem there on our way out.

  • We are also hiring a bartender (who will be providing everything but the alcohol) and going the Costco route. We were quoted $1800 to serve ~100 people. Includes everything including cocktailers who will be walking around with drinks (as to avoid a long line at the bar).

    That's the plan!

  • We went through our caterer too. I think we paid 30$/hour for our bartender, and spent about 300$ on booze plus 10$ per guest for all the mixes and stuff (that covered our Wailua Soda stuff too!)
