Maui Vendor Reviews - Long :)

Just got back a few days ago from our Hawaiian adventure, so sad it's over :( Not to mention I can't believe it's already been two weeks since our wedding, you spend so long planning and then *poof* it's over!  Our wedding was better than I could have hoped for, everyone has been using the word 'perfect' to describe our day and I have to agree, everything was amazing and we had FUN!

Wedding Coordinator: Cherise with The Perfect Wedding Maui = A+++++++

I'm just going to copy and paste my online review for her because it sums up everything I want to say for Cherise:

"5 stars aren't enough for Cherise with The Perfect Wedding Maui - she is seriously a wedding planning rock star! Cherise is so sweet, so organized, so helpful, so calm - basically she's amazing.

I was a very unorganized bride and Cherise never seemed stressed or annoyed or irritated with me, she was always encouraging that everything was fine; she gave me multiple options for anything I was unsure about; she made suggestions or had ideas about wedding touches I hadn't thought about that made our day so beautiful.

Besides her amazing demeanor Cherise is so affordable it almost seems unfair to her - the amount of work she does is incredible and she always responded within 24 hours to my numerous numerous e-mails. Additionally, Cherise provides you with a spreadsheet that breaks down your costs so you know where all of your money is going - the spreadsheet is editable so you can play with numbers to see what you can and can't afford.

I honestly feel like there aren't enough ways to say what a wonderful experience I had working with Cherise - by the end of the wedding planning process she wasn't a planner, she was a friend, and if you hire her it will be the best wedding decision you make!"

So yeah Cherise = AWESOME!

Officiant: Rev. Laki Pomaikai Ka'ahumanu = INCREDIBLE

Laki seriously made our ceremony - he was reverent, sweet, hilarious, laid back, jokester...there's no way to do justice to how awesome he is!  Having a wedding with Laki is like being on an awesome ride - one minute he's being serious and then the next he has you laughing, he has you kiss at various times throughout the ceremony which keeps it really comfortable for you and your now husband, at one point he even had everyone stand up and DANCE!  Our guests couldn't stop talking about how amazing he was and what a great time they had - I don't know if people usually have fun at a wedding ceremony but they definitely did at ours thanks to Laki!  In addition to his amazing officiating Laki is also an amazing person, he has a shelter for battered and abused women and children and even uprooted his life a few years back to help Hawaiians with gamblig problems in Vegas get back on their feet - dude is awesome!

Location: Gannon's Lower Wedding Knoll = Perfect

What an absolutely beautiful spot to get married! At first I was concerned because the spot is next to the entrance road but it was empty during our ceremony and the location is just so beautfiul you forget the road is there.  We got married at 5:30pm and it was perfect, not too sunny but breezy and nice.  Additionally, there's a webcam on the Gannon's website that can be pointed towards the knoll so if you have friends back home they can watch (which is what ours did!)

Ceremony Musician: Jamie Lawrence = Fantastico!

I think everyone that's ever heard Jamie agrees his voice is beautiful!  I had no idea what I wanted for my wedding the whole time I was planning (makes planning a wedding really hard!), the one thing I knew I wanted was Jamie singing 'Maunaleo" as I walked down the aisle.  From the moment I heard him singing the song on his website I was hooked, then I found him singing it live on youtube and I knew I had to have him singing that at my wedding.  I have watched that video sooooo many times over the last 6 or 7 months and when it was finally time to walk down the hill at Gannon's to the wedding knoll it was almost surreal seeing him singing that song live and in person :)  We booked Jamie for an hour so he sang before, during, and after the wedding and it was fantastic, that man is truly gifted!

Reception Location: Gannon's Lower Lawn = Beautiful!!

What a great location, you are surrounded by beautiful views, the space is laid out nicely (although we only had 32 people, not sure about larger groups), and the food.....the food is DELICIOUS!!!!  Holy wow I'm not even a food person but that dinner was incredible! We had the duo plated meal with beef and fresh catch with truffled mac and cheese and asparagus, sooooo good - my husband doesn't even like fish and he couldn't stop raving about how good the fish was - I wish we could have gotten a year's supply to go haha.  We seriously lucked out in one aspect of the location - usually the restaurant would be open and there would be patrons dining there but the night of our reception they had closed the restaurant to have as a backup to a private outdoor event elsewhere on the golf course, they ended up not needing it so we had the whole location to ourselves which was amazing!  Either way I highly recommend Gannon's in general, it was wonderful!

DJ: DJ Boomshot = He Rocked :D

My husband still refuses to call the DJ boomshot, he thinks the name is ridiculous but as far as his work he did a great job.  We made a song mix to be played during dinner but the rest of the night was all him and he really did a great job.  Excellent song mixing and good song selection, he definitely got everyone dancing!  We had my stepdad MC as he does voiceover work so I can't speak to Boomshot's voice skills but he does have a sense of humor - my dad had a little too much "fun juice" and accidentally knocked my stepdad over - the DJ turns on his mic and says "It's not a wedding til someone gets tackled" hahaha :)

Flowers: Dellables = Gorgeous

Della is hilarious, she is brimming with ideas and does beautiful work....my only issue was that she was a little flighty at times while I was planning and sometimes I thought the prices were a bit steep for what I wanted.  In the end my bouquets were stunning and my centerpieces looked beautiful and she worked with me on the price so I was happy.

Makeup: Jessica Waite = Wowza!!

I always see people saying Jessica is the first person they book and as a person with skin issues I knew I needed someone incredible to do my makeup - Jessica was AWESOME!   The whole time she was beautifying me my mom, bridesmaids, mom-in-law and anyone else in the room kept coming over and oohing and ahhing, needless to say I couldn't wait to see the results - she made me look incredible, I almost didn't recognize myself :)  Besides her fantastic makeup skills Jessica is a genuinely nice person, she is so sweet and in talking with her I found out she does amazing charity work in Uganda - she is an A+ human being in addition to having mad makeup skillz!

Hair: Andrea Duarte of A Pampered Bride Maui = Amazing!

Other than knowing I wanted my hair down I wasn't sure how I wanted it styled, hence I didn't want to spend a lot on my hair as I wasn't planning anything too extravagant.  Cherise recommended Andrea as someone she had worked with and liked and her prices were very reasonable so I went with her - so glad I did! Andrea was a riot and did an incredible job on my hair!!  I had saved some pictures on my laptop of hairstyles I liked, when Andrea arrived I showed her the pictures so she had an idea of what I wanted and she took it from there and made me look gorgeous!  She did such a great job of taking in the styles I showed her and combining them into exactly what I wanted.  She was a blast to hang out with and seriously did an amazing job with my hair!

Photographer: Pam Jones of Paris Mountain Photography = A True Artist!!

I sort of lucked out when it came to photography - one of my best friends is an incredible wedding photographer and wanted to use our wedding for her portfolio so I can't recommend anyone on the island but Pam is willing to travel :D  The day after the wedding she put 50 pictures from the day on her iPad just to give us a taste of what she shot - some of them seriously took my breath away and I cannot wait to see what the rest look like!!

So to sum it up our wedding was amazing, incredible, everything I could have ever wanted and more....just a really perfect day!  Having had absolutely no vision of what I wanted going into the process I wouldn't have changed a thing about how the day ended up, shoot we even had a rainbow over Gannon's right after the ceremony ended, it doesn't get much better than that :)
