Hawaii

HELP! Heroes needed for a lost bride to be!

We're from England and have never been to Hawaii, and we don't know anyone there.

But one thing we do definitely know is Hawaii is our ideal location for our dream beach wedding.

We want a small private ceremony with our closest friends. Our families don't support us as a couple and won't be helping, so finacially it's all down to us, which means we have to be prepared.

So I was hoping you ladies would be my saviours and answer a few Questions!

1. How much does a wedding in Hawaii cost in general.

2. Which island would you recommend why and what's the best resort there/ hotel to have your wedding.

3. I keep reading that the hotel/resorts have 'wedding experts' what does this mean... Are they your planners will they only organise the ceremony or extras like cakes, photographers, etc.

4. HOw much do wedding planners cost in general?

I'd really appreciate any help or advice you can give. Without any help from family and it all having to be a secret even from friends till later cause of our comPlicated situation I need as much as I can get!

Thanks a million

  • Just google "Hawaii Wedding"....ceremonies from abouy $100 to thousands....depends on what exactly you want.  There are several companies that plan the entire thing for you so no need for a "planner".  I have personally chosen Above Heaven's Gate on Oahu because they have a private waterfall/white sand beach wedding ceremony. My FH chose the "Hilton Hawaiian village" because he knew others that had stayed there and they had rave reviews.  We did not use the resorts "wedding experty" because FH was torn between a waterfall ceremony and a beach ceremony and I found a company that actually had that combination available =)
Take a deep breath, decide what type of ceremony you want and your budget for the ceremony and the island you would like to visit.  Go to www.gohawaii.com and that will give you tips and advice on each island =)

    Good luck and Happy planning

  • Congrats and welcome to the board, you will find the folks on here extremely helpful.  The first task would be to pick an island.  I know in my research Maui was the best choice for us.  There are lots of wedding vendors on Maui and so many beautiful settings.
http://www.gohawaii.com/I found this to be a good resource for learning the differences in the islands.  Looking through older posts on here will also give you a good feel.

If you are having a small ceremony you can def. plan it without a wedding planner.  We eloped and I found all my vendors through Google and this board and coordinated them myself.  I also used the coordinators websites to help find vendors/info.

We stayed at a private residence (1 BR cottage) where we also had our ceremony.  It was on the west side of Maui in Lahaina.

Let us know which island you choose and we can help you with locations, vendors, etc.

    Good Luck!
